good idea to remove exhaust after O2 housing?

Are there any gains by removing the exhaust after the o2 sensor housing? Will it cause any problems to anything near the housing? My friend told me to remove the exhaust for better times.
Any suggestions?

If you go to the track, I'd suggest you unbolt your downpipe from your O2 housing for optimal performance. On the street, it isn't that bad. I did it for a month. Ugly sound but not as loud as everyone claims it is. It's louder when you have a downpipe with no resonators/cats/mufflers.

At least get the exhaust out of the engine bay. If you're going to unbolt anything, unbolt the downpipe from exhaust and run that way.

Just unbolt it after the DP, reason being is that, is it worth it to cover anything in it's path with carbon, maybe fry stuff, etc, for a small increase? I'd rather just unbolt it after the DP, keep the exhaust OUT OF the engine bay

I ran my car with an open downpipe for about 2 miles. It's VERY loud IMO.

You will not hurt performance by doing this. It will actually help a little.

The less exhaust restriction the better.

I have never ran with an open 02 housing so I don't know how that sounds.

air will enter the o2 between exhaust pulses and on engine decel and it will throw your o2 sensor voltage readings off.

well, there really won't be "pulses" at that point in the exhaust stream since its after the turbo which spins at 100k + RPM

still makes the engine bay messy though

I think honestly the only real thing you'd even have to worry about is boost creep. But due to the t-25 falling off after about 5800+ it shouldn't be much a of a problem. I say go for it You will get some stuff dirty though.
