ok well i have a extra block and crank that i wana build. i just dont know where i should go with this build. i would like to get a 2.3 stroker kit and build it....but i wana know if its just a simple upgrade or would i have to upgrade EVERYTHING else in my car because of it. my goals are to get 500 to 600 hp daily driver. ofcourse with dsm link and all the good engine management stuff. any ideas?

thanks!!

Elaborate by what you mean by upgrade everything?

Yes, you will need everything you would need for a normal build. You've been on this site for almost 2 years and you don't know how to start a build. You have some reading to do. There is never a simple upgrade if you want 500-600hp daily.

What do you mean by "everything" else? You'll be able to drop the block in fine, but in order to get 500-600 you'll need the supporting mods and really research on parts that will get you to those numbers. The tranny will prob. need rebuild with stronger parts. You'll need a nice sized turbo with the proper exahust components and fuel.

GSX16g beat me :p

But seriously, there is A LOT to get to those numbers.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dynosheets.php to give you a general idea.

What do you mean by simple upgrade? It not just simplest an exhaust and cold intake if that's what you're thinking. If you want to reach 600 hp then you'll have to do a full upgrade, like forge internal block, head, transmission, turbo, fuel, ignition, FMIC, etc... It's a big job and when you get to that point you won't find it ideal to DD that car around especially in Colorado with high elevation it's not so easy to get 500-600 hp.

ya i kinda figured that......^^^ with the elevation thing. and by EVERYTHING I meant a complete cylinder head upgrade with cams and valves and stuff. i wasnt sure about the tranny. i got me a fmic now. but ya thanks guys. ill look around and seek my options.

ya ive been almost 2 years in here but dsmtuners.com is not my only sourse of info. :) i just wana see what u guys think.

right now i got 1200$ budget all for my beautiful junk LOL.......what would you guys sugest i should get first? lets forget about the 500 to 600 whp DD thing. to get decent hp....what would you guys recomend for me to buy?

2 weeks ago i bought the maf with the maft. got my hard pipes and a spearco/griffin intercooler so im set on that. got also my mmcd logger with my cable and all. my 2g throttle body elbow also.

i WILL update my profile here in a bit since i havent been here in a wile. but thats all i got so far. everything else in my beatyjunk is stock.

once again thanks guys.

Because most people have never driven a 500-600 hp DSM as a DD. TBH 300-400 is plenty for the street and can get you in trouble VERY QUICKLY. If you want a 500-600 HP AWD car then IMO you should have a DD besides that car.

If I were you I would buy the following with my 1200.

-Injectors
-Walbro 255 with AFPR
-ECMlink v3

After you have those you can save and look into a bigger turbo and an engine build.

If you are getting ECMLink, you should have held out on the MAFT and either gotten the cable or just went speed density. The MAFT is a poor excuse to tune and just too costly IMO just to vent your BOV.

Just read up on the dyno sheet link I posted and see what others are running. Most of the people in the higher HP range are using HIGH boost with race gas. If not race gas then it's pump gas, a damn good tune and using meth/water injection. To hold that kind of boost you'll be spending around 2xx just for L19 head studs alone. A turbo setup can cost you more than your 1200 budget. You can get luck on the market place for people selling the setup with manifold, turbo, o2 housing and wastegate. Not to mention the intake manifold as well. If you can find an Evo3 IM that'll work, otherwise you'll be getting a SMIM.

Why is everyones goals always 500-600hp daily ROFL... yet 5% actually achieve it...

...But goodluck :D

That was me in the beginning :ohdamn:! Like all newb we think we have a bigger schlong if we have the stuff on the road. No offensive intended...

Anyways I almost reached it, 480 HP according to the DSMLink log but eventually the car was so modified is didn't belong I the road for DD.

liquidx^^true....but 2 weeks ago i didnt have 1200 so i got the maft ### it seemed like a good option to tune at that time. but im gona try the maft first....install it and get MY own personal opinion about it. ive heard alot of good and bad stuff about it. sooo im gona try it see how that works for me.

if your on a budget just get an ebay turbo manifold , holset turbo , ALL your fuel needs...and ECM link or what ever its called now and days or you could get aem ems its really cheap for 1G s now.

speed density FTW!

There is nothing wrong with trying it out, thats one of the big parts about building/driving your own car. If you dont like it..you can sell it for close to what you payed for it and use that to go towards ECMlink.

there are a few people that have a stroked DD. 500-600hp is a bit much for a DD, as boostedawd44 said I would look into having another DD just in case. good luck though.

ROFLROFLROFL i already do have the damn ebay manifold crap hahaha just havent installed it. and i got a meghan racing downpipe also. not installed also. its just funny how many people fall for the damn manis.....like i did ROFL

true true:sneaky: i even got the extension calbes to make it easyer for me to tune inside the car LOL.

Im not a huge fan of tubular manifolds on these cars. The FP race manifold will take you a LONG way. I was thinking of making myself a top mount later down the road similar to "the4g63shop" talon that you see all over youtube. They run a gt42 on their top mount and it is a SICK setup.

alright cool cool guys thanks lots!! but once again....leaving the 500-600 whp aside LOL. figured is a lil too much for a DD, got that. soo ecm link will do fo sho then :)

I am just now breaking in my 2.3l DD, I'm hoping it will make somewhere near 400 AWHP on pump gas. My setup in my profile is current. I built the car for autocross and small track road racing so I went with a relatively small PTE-5031E turbo.

If you want you can check back with me in a month or so and I should have it broken in and tuned.

^^^ that's one other thing. Trans rebuild aren't cheap LOL. I think I'm gona upgrade just the pistons and rods, leaving it at a 2.0 and upgrading fuel, t3/t4 turbo, exshaust and a/f management with ecmlink.

And ya tht pipe IS low. I'm gona have to figure something out with that LOL

For a DD, get high compression ratio pistons and concentate on low end power/torque with any other upgrade. Stick to about 300-350 hp for good reliability and without breaking the bank.

GSXSixteenG is right; those lines are really low especialy for the one with blue connector. You can make it a little bit higher by rolling back the first 90º elbow at a 45º angle. Cut the second elbow in half (you get two 45 deg. elbows) and weld it to the rolled elbow. That should shorten the drop by at least an inch. I am assuming you have enough clearance to raise the pipe without interference.
