?? Good deal on a gst ??

I saw a red 1996 gst for sale at a local lot. After looking at the car I see that it as 108k miles is auto and has been lowered. It is in real good shape in and out. The owner tells me that the price is $4999 and that it needs an alternator. I drive the car and it feels nice and tight and runs real strong. I get back and work the numbers with him on a trade for my car (92 lexus 300). I tell him that I want the weekend to think about it. Well I call him today and he says that he is not making enough money to take my car and fix the problems with his car to do the deal and that he is just going to sell it at the auction to avoid the hassle. Later I call him back to talk about it some more and I reach an agreement with him I buy the car at $100 over what he paid for it and NO trade in, which works out to be $3900. What do you guys think?

i dont know man. I really like the lexus sc300's. what do you want to do with a car? drag race? handling? everyday driving? to be honest with you, you would just be better off waiting to find a manual, because autos arent the best for racing. and good friend of mine has had good luck with his, but i wouldnt reccomend it. And to be honest with you, that elcipse wont even be half the car your lexus is, comfort wise. Eclipses arent really all that comfortable, or super high quality cars. your lexus however is. If i were in your position, i would definately just keep the 300. if that eclipse was a manual and adult owned/ unmodified, i might have to rethink my decision. but for reference, i got my car for like 4700 with 78k, and it's a 97 with rims, BOV, and exhaust when i bought it.

Thanks for the input. Well the car is going to be a daily and the lexus is the es300 not the sc. I also own a 97 limited ed supra with a single turbo and about every mod you can think of with the exception of a body kit that is a track/street car. I think that lex is going down hill it has 155k hard miles.

Auto's do get crankwalk, but their chances are much lower than the manuals. Not to rag on the auto's but if your planning to make any kind of power, then you should really get a 5 speed.

That supra is bad as hell Yea, if you are only looking for a daily driver, you will want something comfortable and reliable with good gas mileage. the gst is none of the things Go ahead and get yourself another lexus. yea go ahead and send me a PM with the vids. i am interested. and more pics too. nice
