I am going to look at a 98 GSX this weekend down in Jersey anything I should be looking for that I might be over looking? The one bad about the car is I know it is going to need to be re-clearcoated but that's no biggie to me.

Look under the car for any signs of abuse or leaks. Dented frame, rust etc. Look under the hood for anything that seems out of place and look on the forum for things to look for. Check for crank play and turbo shaft play. Drive it hard and check the oil thickness. Some people hide knocking by using a thicker oil. Check for wiring messes oil/coolant leaks. Sale/work recipts. Make sure everythign works and don't be like "oh that's not a big deal I was gonna replace that anyway" when looking at the car. Happened to me and I put aside A LOT of problems only to go and sell it again. Make sure you are happy with it.

Few tips, check oil for milkiness, check for play in the turbo, check for any leaks (oil/coolant), rev the car up and see if it smokes (if it does, what color is it), turn car off and on several times, run the car hard and see if it behaves ok afterwards, even give it a quick/hard launch to make sure clutch is ok...
