Anyone ever just cut the dump tube off of the o2 housing and weld a vband on for ewg?

your talking the stock cast one? and weld on it? ewg=exhaustwastegate? please elaborate, if you are talking like finding a way to make a dump pipe gotta make flanges and make your own or buy one on the internet ive seen em but they are not cheep.

People have chopped up an eBay/Megan O2 and welded a flange on it for an external wastegate, yes.

Came across it searching way back when.

I'm talking about those Megan o2 housing with the screamer pipes welded on yes

Seems simple enough if you have the welder/skills or know a guy.

Only issues I see is you're eye-balling the alternator, manifold, rad/fans, oil filter, etc. for clearance.
Def spend the time getting the angles right.
One failure could turn the money saving endeavour into something not as cheap real quick..

Very true but yea I understand still not sure I'm going to try it just amazed at the cost of a decent o2 housing with ewg set up

You're better off buying in my opinion. Unless you're a top notch fabricator
