Just wondering if anyone has seen or owns ony of godspees or fatboygarage stuff. I am tempted to buy one of their intercoolers but dont know anything about the quality of the core or welds. They also sell some evo III 16g turbos which come with an install kit for a 2g and ported.

What have you done to your talon? Honestly If you can get the swap done for $1500 good for you, but that seems really, really, really low. How are you getting a longblock, transmission, ECU, plus a wiring harness or custom wiring job, manifolds, turbo, downpipe, intercooler, plus the fabrication required for 1500? Also, any engine mods you've already done become moot once you do the swap, so the only things you can keep are either cosmetic mods or suspension mods, both of which are easily transferable to a turbo shell. My ¢.02

Agreed. Unless your car now is a SEMA, or NOPI show car winner, I would not see the reason of doing it. Just curious, as questioned above, how do you only estimate it to be $1500?

well i bought basically the turbo charged car from the guy for 700 bucks, and the installation of it all is costing me 1500 bucks, so in reality i guess its costing me 2200, but yeh, i got a 4g63t with forge bov, aftermarket headers, aftermarket filter, and a chipped computer with a rev limiter pushed back to 8000. And the entire cradle, they are going to have to custom make the turbo downpipe. And as far as what i have done to my car so far. i have rims, performance tires, fresh paint job, halos, tinted tail lights, aftermarket sunroof, led and neon lights, tinted windows, sound system, and i did performance mods like aftermarket headers, exhaust, cat, cai, and all that good stuff, so ive invested 10000 dollars in this car, not including the 4k it cost me, so i just dont want to scrap all of that. Keep postin!!!!

OMG. I'm not trying to be mean but, dude your wasting your time and money. :heystupid: For $1500, it sounds like all your doing is buying yourslef headaches and heart aches when this leaves you with a torn apart car. I've never once said to anyone on here to just sell their N/T and buy a turbo and I never will. I like to see people build up the 420a since it gets such bad rep., but for $1500 this thing is going to be half-a**ed one way all the way to Sunday. Your "mechanic" doing this? As soon as the backwoods, hi... I mean mechanic, takes out the 4g63 and tries to drop it in your N/A, he's gonna be like WTF:banghead:. You need axels, the tranny, hopefully the motor is in good shape because if this swap was done it would be a shame to pull it all back out and the list will go on and on. But since I'm trying really hard now to stay on topic, I'll put my monitor down and help you with your FMIC choices.

Many have had great luck with the Ebay FMIC and so should you. I suggest, however, if you get one from Ebay, the T-bolts, if you even get them, suck. Go ahead and order some top quality t-bolts and couplers. OBX, yes I said OBX, has a pretty good kit. That's the one I was actually going to get.

Good luck with swap and may the force be with you...

Am I missing something? What's wrong with the parts car? Is it totalled? Is it a first generation dsm? Why not fix the parts car and have two of them?

I'll be "mean"...I think this is pointless. If the other car runs, why not have a quick car and a ric..."show car"?

I have money saying we'll see threads about issues...several of them.

There ya go. :)

FWIW, search on the Godspeed units. They've been talked about.

By far the best thing you can do at this point. How crappy is that 4g63 anyway? if you got it for 700 i assume it would take some work but it sounds like you are getting a good deal for the swap... maybe ull get a good deal for fixing the 4g63? What you are doing makes very little sense (sorry to be mean). It is best to have two dsms at this point. good luck though, let us know what you're up to :dsm:

Anyway, about the fmic, to paint or not to paint that is the question and you will get obviously many different answers. Anodized aluminum looks bad a$$ and will hold up much better to the elements than paint but I have seen some cheap anodized parts fade a little over time, mostly shift knobs that are rubbed by the palm of your hand constantly.

Do a search on "Home anodizing". I stumbled upon it a few weeks ago but haven't tried it yet b/c it looks kinda dangerous. I actually printed the directions incase I couldn't find the thread again. This may be an option.

thanks for you input guys, and yeh trust me i know it would be easier to just drop this car, and buy a tsi, or gsx or gst or one of the turbo models. However in the situation that i am in right now, i have to keep this car, and i can not get another one. I wont waste you all's time with details, but im just doing the best i can with what i got. 4g63 motor is in good condition btw has 80,000 miles, it started right up, no smoke no nothin. Far as paint goes, ima try to do that anodize thing, that sounds like it would be better, but i still have got little info on if anyone has had any past experience with godspeed, thoughts?

keep postin guys, this is awesome!

oh yeh, forgot the parts car got into an accident, and the body was destroyed, and he damaged the radiator, but he replaced that, so yeh, besides i like talons better than eclipses, call me biased :)

I know you really want to do the swap, but have you considered selling the nonturbo, and using that money plus the money you were going to use for the parts car plus additional parts and labor for a stock turbo DSM??

got another question for you fine fellows. Are the physical dimensions the same for a n/t talon, and a turbo talon? One minor concern i have is if the new 4g63 engine will literally fit into the place of my 420a with the cradle replacement and stuff, is the actual engine bigger?

It will fit, but you will have to do extensive fabrication of motor and transmission mounts to make it bolt up.

You have a very "fun" journey ahead of you. :talon:

Agreed. If you do actually tackle this project, make sure to take pictures of the build.

Since everyone else stressed how crazy this swap is I'll just jump right into the FMIC issue. If you're going for the Godspeed FMIC kit you should know that there are tons of Kits on ebay exactly like it for almost half the price. But honestly, the one I'd go for is the SSAC kit. They're a lot less expensive than godspeed and are proven. I don't think you can keep your stock fog lights with the SSAC kit though. Anyway, good luck. I hope everything works out for you.

I have a turbo from godspeed that's done me good so far, but as for a fmic mines a cxracing and in my opinion it's great and for a great price. IMO. I would look into it.

I've had a buddy with a Godspeed fmic, and it installed with no problems, no fitment issues. seems to work very nicely. so +1 on Godspeed. I'm not positive on the turbos, seems to be hit or miss, but remember Godspeed started off as a eBay company. Some people have had no issues with ebay turbos, some have. It seems to be a hit or miss thing as well. I'm not saying Godspeed is no good, but just something to think about.
