winnipeg,
Does any one tried this mods in their 1G non turbo? I wanna know if this mod is worth it and can achieve decent HP gains...later all.

It can be done. It will work like a fuel controller in your case. The only problem will be you will have to cut your stock harness and the stock MAFT harness and hardwire all the lines in.

the problem i see is that the gm maft is designed to plug into the turbo mass air sensor which has an 8 wire plug instead of the 6 wire plug on your nt mass air sensor, so you'll have to do some work there. not to mention it also is calibrated to replicate the 450cc injectors in the turbo cars and not the 270cc (or whatever they are) injectors of the nt. so you'd have to find some way to adjust that maft to be anywhere near the correct settings.

secondly you're talking about spending $300 to gain a possible 2-3 hp if you could even tune it right and that could be done easier by picking up a s-afc used for like $220 and leaning out the naturally rich condition of the stock ecu, that's going to be where your gains come from with the maft as well, not the improved flow.

which would be easier to install and tune, SAFC2 or GM MAFT?...i read a few forums and most of them prefer GM MAFT set up, but most of them are turbo. If im going for SAFC2, do i need to use bigger injectors, fuel pump, pressure regulator, etc. to get noticeable gains or is SAFC2 is just enough to fine tune my air fuel ratio and get reasonable gains?...I currently have I/H/E set up and im planning to get hks 263/272 cams soon. My engine has 180k :( i dunno if its still a good idea to add those mods...BTW.thanx for the info guys....later.

i'd go with a used s-afc, no need to pay the extra cash for the safc2. the only reason you'd need to add more fuel is if you're moving more air into the engine. since you're just ntwith not major mods there's no real reason to add more fuel, it'll just cause you to run overly rich and make less power.

which SAFC version has a knob style? i heared that its better than the push button type, also approximately what hp gains would i get from hks 264/272 cams?

don't mix cams, just go one or the other.

the afc is the one with the knobs, safc has the original blue screen, and then there's the safc II

240cc/min in the nonturbos.

It's 7 wires for the turbo motor, 8 spots in the harness. The 7th wire compared to the non-turbo harness is the stock pressure sensor. The crappy turbo meter. You don't need it so don't worry about it.

You just need to hardwire it up but don't even bother. Keep your n/t stock!
