:confused:Here's my questions for the great DSM Gurus. Can the orignal O2 sensor be reused on my new header? And what is the correct amount of torque needed to attach the header to the head? I am ready to get this mod done and enjoy my improved performance:D:thumb:.

Thanx for the advice!!:dsm:

As long as the header you baught has the threaded bung for the O2 sensor, then yes your suppose to reuse the O2 sensor. If it doesn't you'll need to do some fabricating to make it fit somewhere. Your Haynes or Chilton manual for the car, along with several other websites will have all your torque specs for you. Good luck. Unfortunately you'll only make about 2 hp with that header. Unfortunately for you the factory made a pretty decent intake and exhaust from the factory for that car. Usually with intake, header, high flow cat, and full catback, those cars usually only pick up 7-10 hp. IF that. Mine only made 4.5 hp with the above listed mods. That's why I sold it and baught a turbo car. Much faster for way less money.

My car has a injen short jam intake and a greddy dt muffler. My gains should be better than that.

Mine had an AEM cold air, 2.5 inch high flow cat, with Greddy Evolution Catback. I sure hope you make more than me. Because that was the biggest waste of $1,000 ever.

Not true at all.
Everyone says sell your 420a and get a 4g63. The 420a is going to take a bit more work to get the power of a 4g63, but thats what dsm's are all about. Getting down and doing the dirty work yourself. And thats what makes dsm's awesome.

Yes I can see that being a waste of $1,000. But if you spent that much then thats your problem. That should cost you $500 tops. Just cause you buy brand name stuff doesnt mean its better.

Anyway to the OP, yes, reuse your original o2 sensor, you have to. If theres no spot for it on your new header go have a place just weld a o2 bung on there for you and your good. Idk torque spefications off the top of my head, ill look at my chiltons and let you know later on.

yea that heat shield is a pita!!! what kind of header did you get??

its true, with just bolt-ons 420a will probably not get more than 8-10 hp.. 420a is ### stock but bad ass built... now I'm not going to tell you to sell you car and get a turbo one.. but get some sort of power adder.. just a thought.. good luck with your car..

1. No they shouldn't (see below post)
2. A different muffler isn't giving you any gains, guess what, the rest of your exhaust is still stock diameter and even a full exhaust isn't going to net much (see below post again)

^that's a lot of money for intake and exhaust, even name brand it should cost you less than $700 edit: meh maybe not if you got everything new and spent the money on a REAL high flow cat

OP a couple of the best NT mods are underdrive pulley and jeep, 55 or 60 mm throttle bodies. Both fairly cheap and can be used in conjunction with whatever your future goals are (i.e. not going to be replaced with other parts if you go turbo)

It's an ebay header 4-1 ceramic coated. So far it looks good no burs to file off and a really good looking finish. So as I understand it I should reuse my origanl o2 sensor.

I plan on doing the underdrive pully here in another 7000 miles when my timeing belt is do for its first replacement.

what year and model jeep can i get a 60 mm throttle body for my 1998 mitsubishi eclipse GS..

if you have the extra cash you could get a direct fit 60mm throttle body off modernperformance.com... also get a obx IM and port match it to the TB...

or just P&P the Stock IM and TB.. just some ideas..

420a's are cheaper to mod but the thing is when your done and you've done everything under the sun a 4g63 will out perform the 420a because the R&D behind the 4g63 platform has been back better than just about any platform except the the b16/18/h22 honda motors. I have just about everything a NT guy can get including custom stuff that I picked up the idea for from my turbo experience and I know that while my car is night and day better than it was my 90 tsi will own it when it's done. This is just my opinion and I know people like mark will disagree as he has made a beast of a NT car but if your not going to turbo your 420a it's better to just keep it simple with bolt ons and use it as a nice street car not a car you plan on racing. I have modded both now so while my advice isn't the gospile I am not talking out my ass like some 420a guys.
