GM MAF before air filter?

That's cool for now (no venting)
I'm assuming though that I'll be able to get my fuel trims
up to speed with the MAFT and SAFCII....
I'm the guy that bought the turbo before the supporting mods :barf:

It will work exactly the same no matter what the position. The only thing position affects is venting.

i'm pretty sure you don't need a FMIC just to put the MAF somewhere else. unless i'm mistaken, you can just get hard pipes with the uicp cut to accomodate the maf. i'd also use it as an opportunity to pick a good bov and have the flange for it welded to the pipe for that 'clean' look.

you could always go with a Pro-M setup and not have to get a S-AFC in addition to a MAF.

You can put the MAF in the UICP if you get one made for it. Or you can go draw through with it and you wont need to buy a new UICP.

What I mean by the intercooler thing is that I don't want to buy
UIC pipes twice as I still have the stock sidemount.

Than it would be cheaper do to with a draw-thru setup with either the GM or the Pro-M MAF.

If you went with a drawthrough you would need to buy a new intake pipe for sure. If you want with a blow through you would need a new UICP for sure and depending on your skill you may be able to work something out with sticking your air filter on your Intake pipe right now depening on which one you have. So they both may work out to the same amount of money.

If you want blow through now and down the road you went with a FMIC, you would already have the Blow thru air meter so you would be set.

I have the 3" MAF and a 3" CF Intake Pipe.
I'll go with the blow-thru setup as soon as I can afford
the UICP, I'll do the FMIC at the same time.
Thanks for the help guys, even though the subject was... stupid. :coy:

I still don't know what a pro-m setup is. I do have the safcII and maft already..
I did a search on pro-m and I found another post that said "go with the pro-m setup"

Basically the Pro-M adds fuel based on load as opposed to throttle position. It also is much more accurate than a GM MAF.
It also has 2 air temp sensors, one for outside and one for intake temps so it will adjust fuel according to the tempature outside of the car.

WIth a pro-m you can tune your car at 16psi and then bump it out to 30psi and the AFR will only be off a slim amount. So you can basically tune your car one time and be done with it. And adjust the boost to whatever you want to.

My friend tuned his car in at 29psi on his stock ECU at 648whp and at the track bumped it up to 39psi and his AFRs were great. He also have stage 3 crower cams and big injectors and his car idles like stock all year around.
