What will it take in a complete rebuild of a 1g turbo engine? A shop near me has one that is jsut collecting dust. What needs to be done to this engine to bring in 10 sec on a fwd? Anything suspension wise that would be good to look into? Am i asking too much for 10sec???? Nitrous needed? Can it still be driven on the road? Slicks? Thanks

MONEY!!

It can be done http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/member.php?&do=vehicledetails&userid=13996 and http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/member.php?&do=vehicledetails&userid=22780

PTE 56 Turbo or something as big,46mm O2 Eliminator, XBC,Huge FMIC, ported head, AEM EMS, Ignition, injectors, 3 inch exhaust, probably an intake manifold, flowing exhaust manifold, cams, valves, springs and retainers,
probably nitrous as well, rods, pistons, machine shop work and costs, a complete engine gasket set, clutch and flywheel, transmission work including LSD, and traditional DSM tranny upgrades, slicks, rear suspension mods,

or,
buy built engine and tranny, look here: http://www.ffwdconnection.com/dsm2.htm

and here http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/

and here http://www.shepracing.com/

and here http://www.dogboxracing.com/services.cfm

and here http://www.dsmtuners.com/ ( this last web site is the shyte and if you do EXTENSIVE RESEARCH there, amazing knowledge will be bestowed apon thee) ;)

VERY EXPENSIVE, but doable. Streetable? sure, but maybe streetable to you is not to someone else. Like my friends 11 second mirage w/4g63T. He loves it, but I would have to buy a second car as the clutch, fuel pump whine, touchy accelerator down low, and harsh suspension would drive me to drink.

Oh yeah,
MONEY, AND SOME MONEY, WITH A LOT OF MONEY thrown in for good measure. OMG

If you have a truckload of money, then you CAN do it. You also will ned some help so you don't get ripprd of by anyone who wants to take advantage of your lack of knowledge and enthusiasm. :thumb:

Oh yeah, college tuition payed up? I'd do that first. (not kidding either, as you will likely spend 10 grand to do this)

how bout you'll send MORE than 10grand

Not including the cost of the car I really doubt it ... it'll be close to but you may be able to do it in under 10k. Hell my car on pump gtech'd a high 11 with a shitty launch on pump gas and a pocketlogger tune. I've spent 5k on go fast mods but I did 90% of the work myself too.

True, but if you have to ask on a message board how to run 10's, chances are, you can't do all the work yourself.

That's a lot of mods you have for $5k. Must have some really good hook ups. I agree that it's going to cost him more than $10k to build a 10 sec fwd dsm.

he's fwd remember...

like everyone said it's alot of time, money and effort. Also in the end even if you get the car up to par it's going to take a hell of a driver to get 10secs in a fwd.

yea true I missed that part. The only suspension / tire I did on my car is eibach prokit and a set of kuhmos because my stock tires were worn down. A fwd would cost a lot of money in the suspension, tire, and tranny departments alone ... let alone the same engine building costs as a gsx.

Ok, I agree that the "how do I reach 10's" question is very fast and furious; however, I do have an issue with everyone who seems to think a GS-T will never do better than a 13 second qt mile. What?!? Can only an AWD or RWD import break a 13? LOL! I think not. I see that shit all day long on this site; it's getting old. Sure it takes some extra work, but so what.? If we have the extra time and money, so be it. Just because we can't rev, drop and go, doesn't mean 13's is the end of the road for us. Lol! So, to the Paul Walker who wants to break 10's: I say go for a 12 and shut these onlyawdisfast ####ers up! To everyone who thinks only an AWD DSM will ever: ignorance must REALLY be bliss. So, please, I ask the AWD guys to stop telling people with GS-Ts to count on only a 13. I've seen it a million times. It's getting old and it's not true. Next time I see that FWD DSM or CRX run a 12 at the track on street tires... I'll tell him that didn't really happen because they don't have AWD.

my friends gst did a 12.8 and it's a convertable too. The only problem is it was a 2.3 60 foot and the trap speed was 118 LOL. I personally watched a fwd 2g hit mid to high 11s numerous times as well. It's true a gst can haul ass as well but traction is a problem. Even for us awd guys traction becomes a problem once we hit low 11s and faster so I don't know how a fwd is supposed to hook. It is true however that a 13 is not the end of the road for a fwd.

We all know the fastest 2g gst runs 11's or 10's
and the fastest 1g gst is around a 9 i may be off by a bit. But no one is saying gst's are slow calm down, everything doesnt have to be made into an argument on the internet.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/timeslips.php just look in their profiles.

Nobody in this thread told him that since he's a GST he should be aiming for only 13's. What they did tell him was to try to get into the 13's first, then go from there. What people did mention was that it's going to be more work to get a fwd into the 10's compared to an awd - not that it's impossible.

I'm not mad or anything, but being a FWD guy myself, I've been seeing people say that 13's is what you can count on, and that's about it for the past two years I've been coming here. I just now said something. I'm not blaming this thread or anyone in particular. I just wanted to get it off my chest. I feel better now, so I'm done. Peace.

Ok First do some massive research then if you have any specific questions then you can ask.
