Hello all,

After selling my last DSM(96' TSi AWD), I've wanted another one. Hard times brought me to sell it when I didn't want to, but now I'm on the search for another! Since the Talon left my possession, I've built 2 3000GT VR-4's(current one is in the works as we speak), a 280zx, and I'm helping my brother out with his S-chassis build. After going through a few more builds I've gained some valuable knowledge about everything that goes into a quality built car. Doing things right the first time, and doing them with quality parts is a HUGE factor. And that's what I intend to do with my future DSM. I want to build it into the car my other one didn't get to become. I'm looking for one as we speak, so if anybody has any leads on a nice 5 speed 2g awd Talon please let me know! I have some cash, but I also have a 2015 Beta 300RR with very low hours that I'd be willing to give up for the right DSM! I'm located in East TN, More info to those who are interested. I assume you've covered the usual sports (craigslist, ebay, tuners, link forums, etc?
 
Yes I've browsed through the usual sites, no takers on my trade offer yet. Would like to trade the bike and have the cash for maintenance and beginning modifications.
 
Just be patient for your bike to sell. Besides from what was mentioned above, a lot of people are using DSM Classifieds on Facebook if you haven't tried there yet. Welcome back and good luck with the search! :hellyeah:
 
That might be helpful, the only problem being that I don't have a Facebook:)

The bike is for sale also, just haven't had anybody serious about buying it. Everybody so far can't accept to pay a quality price for a quality bike! In the meantime, this is my past DSM.

While I continue my search I might as well throw out a rough build list I have in my head. If you have any suggestions please feel free to put them down there! Here it is:

I'm aiming for 450-ish horsepower. I'd still like to have a setup that is capable of more than that because we all know enough is never enough;)

Going to completely refresh the engine top to bottom after driving it for a few weeks to see what all is going on with the car. New forged internals with factory specs(maybe slightly higher compression depending on fuel), new hardware, gaskets, etc. A top end refresh will consist of a slightly more aggressive cam, adjustable cam gears, new valves, springs, all that good stuff.

I've been looking through turbo choices and I'm so used to 3000GT turbo lingo, I'm not 100% sure on what turbo would be best for my needs. My previous DSM was running a large Mhi 16g and it was a great turbo, I just felt as though I wanted just a little more umph. E85 is not out of the question, as I've always wanted to give it a go. With the recent opening of a new gas station with e85 now is as good of a time as ever to try it!

I've heard nothing but good things about the Xona rotor turbos, although they're pricey, I can only imagine them to be a great performing turbo... Definitely thinking about giving it a try. Local guy with a 2.1 stroker Evo is running one and the thing is a BEAST. He claims "this is the most spool happy, big turbo I've ever used, id definitely recommended it".

Of course I've factored in all of the supporting mods also. I really want to take my time with this build and really create something I'm proud of! Thank you in advance for any input:thumb:
 
Anything that flows 50 lbs / min plus is going to be a good choice. Have you ever rode / driven a 500whp car? While they are fun, you never can get enough and always want more. Look seriously at 60 - 70 lb / min turbo's (hta 35r sized). Do you have a specific usage for the car? Daily? Track on the weekend? Highway rolls? Just trying to see what sorta build your looking at. What ever trans you go with (manual or auto) make sure you get it rebuilt before you crank the boost up. These cars are getting older now and it's not worth the chance of tearing the trans back out..
 
The car will be a weekend/nice day car for the most part. Yes I have ridden in several 500+hp cars. One of them being a friend of mines 700hp Evo 8. Absolutely ridiculous LOL I'll look into turbos that match ththe flow rates you've posted. I'll post back later with a list! Thanks again.
 
So I've window shopped a bit and this is what I came up with.

PTE 6262
Xona xr 71-64
FP green XL

I'd really like a full V-band setup to make things simplistic and to keep a nice look under the hood. There are many more turbos that compare to these, but these are the main 3 that caught my attention.
 
So I haven't had any luck finding a 2gb Talon in my area that's in my price range, however I ran upon a very clean low mileage 1ga eclipse GSX that I'm going to go buy next Saturday. The cars original miles are still in the 5 digits and it's basically none stock. Gonna have a good time with this one! Also the power goals have changed, my 3000gt vr-4 is gonna be close to 550whp when it's done in the spring, so I want to have a slightly lower powered DSM. Think I might give the 16g another go:thumb:
 
Deal fell through with the 1G, but it's okay I suppose. Awd 2g Talon is what I'm wanting more than anything anyways, if anybody has a lead on one within 100 or so miles of me let me know I'm ready to buy! I have $5500 to spend on one, and I'd like to have it before winter. Must be a manual though!
