420a equals trash when it comes to power. Do a 4g63t swap and start from there my friend. Nobody wants a pt cruiser motor anyways. Anybody have a clue why Mitsubishi put that motor in that car in the usa but in Europe they did the 4g63 n/t. Not very fair

Doesn't the 2000-2005 neon use a A588 straight 4?
The highest you can get a n/a 420a is about 450, but it takes almost 20k into parts to rebuild the motor

a friend of mine worked at a speed shop that had someone come in and get his built that way. The car ended up being ridiculous, but it would have been much simpler just to put a turbo on it.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but the 420a is a mitsubishi motor, it was originally designed and built in japan, the 4g63 is the successor to the 420a, and honestly all they did was swap the side the motor went on and lowered the compression so as to accomodate larger turbos. This fact is pretty obvious if you do a rebuild of both, you can use all the 4g63 internals, you just need to make some minor adjustments so that the opposite direction of rotation. The reason that it is mostly chryslers that have it is because of the complicated tradeoff involved in the mmoa buyout of the chrysler shares of dsm. No offense guys, but if you're really planning on bashing a motor, i would personally suggest that you get all the facts before you decide to do it.

NO, NO, and No. The 420a is a chrysler engine and was NEVER used in japan. The internals, or any part of the 420a are NOTHING like a 4g63. Your friend did NOT make a 450 horse na 420a. It didn't happen, quit giving horrible incorrect information.
where's that smiley with mobile phone Paging....
