So i have the 98 gs for now and was looking to get a little extra hp out of it but keep it as a dd .:hellyeah: any cheap turbo that keep it safe for a dd but add some power ?

I tried looking on the forums but could not find any helpful kits or parts for some power. Let me know people, thank you! :D

Ook i don't mean butt in but it seems to.me that everyone here is knockin on the 420a well I have a 420a and from what I can tell I can rape a g35 infinite. Q gt mustang. A turbo eclipse with a 16g turbo runnin 23lbs of boost and dog walk a built b18c1 with a gsr head on it. And last I check all I have from what I've seen and am told is stage 2 cams. Still confused on how the 420a isn't a good motor and yet I have nearly 200k miles. And the turbo eclipse was a 4g63t I mean come on. I dog walked a ####in vr4 twin runnin jet fuel on the highway. And a nodded Celica with the works done to it. Explain why the 420a is a bad motor. Please. LOL LOL

What a terrible attempt at trolling.

and then you woke up?

Nobody is saying its a bad motor. Its just the argument of best bang for the buck. How much it actually takes to make a 420a carry 200 hp reliably

Ok that's understandable and I'm not trying to troll just when someone says you can make better power from the 4g63t I laugh cause in all reality if your buildin a motor now adays.its about drag racing. Yes the 4g63t is a fantastic motor to track race no doubt and its cheaper but in the street isbwhat counts on my opinion. Iv been runnin my 420a for a while and haven't put no more then 200 dollars into it if that and am pushing almost 200 whp. And on top of that you can have more power then me but if you cant drive worth a lick your gonna lose everytime no matter how much money is in the motor or the power. And I was NOT. Trying to troll.

and then you woke up?

Nah then I realized the 420a is the better motor then what people say. People now.adays says its the worst motor cause its to expensive to build.

What a terrible attempt at trolling.

I was not trying to troll. Sorry for the inconvenient

Where's your dyno numbers? Unless your motors built then your no where near 200hp. A full bolt on 420a might hit 140ish at the wheels. I call BS on your "kill stories".

P.S. Cool story bro....

You aren't making anywhere near 200whp.

You do realize more power has been made on a stock 4g63 bottom end, then has ever been made on the most built 420a, right?

The 420a is a great motor, just not for making power. Gets good gas mileage and is pretty reliable.

Even that is a bit high. Check out the 420a guys mod lists and such. Most of them with full bolts on make like 118whp. The one guy with with a full build made 140whp. Bullet is the only one i know of to make 200whp n/a on the 420.

Agreed, if you want power get a 4g63t. Use the 420a when you're low on gas money, or you need to drive over 60 miles. There's a ton of people on here who build out 420a's but still like RadDsm said, stock bottom end has more power than most built 420a's, I'll add even with an auto trans.

As for makin it look good, I recommend Andy's Auto Sport Body Kits - Your Body Kit Superstore! I never had issues with parts and kits they distribute for Duraflex etc.. Although I do know people who have had problems with them. Thing is when you order a body kit or something the condition of it can vary. It might have a few easily fixable nicks or imperfections. I hate bondo, but for body kits it's cheap easy fix, and it'll take away all the crap and make it look good.

420a head outflows the 4g63 head stock vs. stock.

true story.

that's how the car in my sig was 400~ whp on a stock head.

Do you have bench flow numbers to back that up? Not saying it isn't true, just curious.

Still doesn't matter though, kiggly ran 8s on an unported 2G head.

Damn you have so much ego for a troller.

how about you post up some of your results instead of trying to see if someone drives states to find out your a liar.

And who in the right mind would drive to you, your bluffing because you know no one will actually show up.

We all have lives here and better things to do besides go and prove your full of it.

You are full of shit. Your bolt on 420a is slow, you're a wanna be street racer ###got.

Post a dyno sheet or a track slip. Until you do (which you won't), you just look like an idiot ricer to everyone else here who actually knows what they're talking about.

I don't personally, but i have saw them, and it's a common know fact that the 420a is one of the best flowing heads ever designed for a I4. It's a lotus-made head.

and by stock head, i mean 100% stock. Cams, and cam gears also.

all this 420a talk makes me miss my 1st car. a red 1998 eclipse gs.

i effin loved it..

realized how slow it was and got smoked by a camry.

drove 95 miles for the dsm i drive now and traded straight up.

the panda had a misfire and ran like sit..

tired of the 420a i still took the trade. drove it 95 miles back missfiring and going under 50..

got it home and the next day of some browsing around i found a fouled out spark plug.

<3

oh boy was i delighted

I had a friend back in high school (2003) that had a red 2g non turbo eclipse. He put a turbokit on that car for about $1800 and it ran for a long long time. I think he was only pushing 8psi, but with e85 today you could push a lot more then that. Im also pretty sure you can get a ebay turbo kit for around that same price.

Now for my opinion. If you already plan on selling your car (which is already sounds like you are) then you might as well just leave it be, sell it, then get a gsx, otherwise whats the point? Turbocharging your N/A could be a fun project but i believe there are limitations on boost, traction (fwd) and transmission. So you should know that you will probably have a max rating of 300-400 hp on that motor without touching the internals. Also your axles might be an issue too, but i cant say for sure (someone please chime in the N/A drive-train).

In short, get a gsx or drop a 4g63t in your n/a + the AWD conversion if you're feeling routy.

i thought people who modded 420a were people who had money to spend and do it the hard way and experience.

anything can be fast.

but for people who dont have deep pockets go with the 4g63 instead of 420a.

ebay kit will work, but that wont last long and you wont get far on dyno/drag strip.

My friend also had money, I just didn't think it was very smart although I sort of respected his commitment towards his car.

ROFL 23 psi on a 16g would make 300ish whp and your 420a that's "just what you've seen are stage 2 cams" will not net you close to 200 whp on a 420. I could be wrong but don't the 420s come with about 115whp from the factory? There's no way you can gain 85 whp from stage 2 cams bud? Are you sure those cars even knew you were racing?

This is all wrong.

99% of people who mod 420a's either don't care about going fast, or are to hard headed to admit that it's not a good platform to make power.

Those who want to go fast in a Talon/Laser/Eclipse buy one with a 4g63.

I can understand being proud of owning a 420a (I used to own one), but be realistic about what it is. It's a decent looking, reliable, economy car.

But hey?! Look at me, I owned 420a and i beat few honda out there before my motor blew. Now i start seeing most of my friend put bad ass motor as a "H22", "K20"or w.e. I feel kinda low because i owned 420a and i want to feel dsm pride and want bad ass motor so i decide to save money to get me 4g63t :)

you shouldn't even be posting in this thread.
Making generalities like that really shows your lack of intelligence. You're the one that's wrong.

with a forged bottom end you're good for 400 hp (plus turbo and supporting mods, clutch).
idk about you but that's plenty of power. at that stage 1st and 2nd gear is useless under any kind of boost. What more would you really want?

It's FWD, it doesn't need any more power than that, can't put it to the ground anyway (in most street car cases). At this point the only REAL argument against the 420a is that it's FWD, and therefore has tons of issues with traction.

I want to know why the Mods here have been CONTINUALLY ignoring any and all 420a bashing which is clearly against the rules.
