So i have the 98 gs for now and was looking to get a little extra hp out of it but keep it as a dd .
any cheap turbo that keep it safe for a dd but add some power ?
I tried looking on the forums but could not find any helpful kits or parts for some power. Let me know people, thank you!

they are reliable. the locals i have seen are as follows, ( when i worked for autozone) a kid had a 96 420a with a custom peiced together turbo kit on 6 psi... raced my bone stock and i mean bone stock twin turbo stealth and hung till i down shifted car lasted about 5 months was driving one day and said it started just pouring oil out the exhaust... a local kid in cabot that i race with alot had a 420a that was gutted with a header clutch cold air intake and intake manifold. no power steering back seats spare or carpeting or a/c and the best he could do was keep up with 5.0 foxbodys with pipes they are not bad if u want to represent the dsm platform but my suggestion is to buy a roller and always build one yourself. the experience is phenomenal. im not building another dsm on a 1g or 2g. im using my 7 bolt for the conquest i just bought with no motor. get tired of local 240 guys thinking they hot cause they can slide around... fixing to show em how its done
like a boss...
The outside was beat to hell, but it gave me a platform to teach myself auto body and paint on (check out my pics). Anyway, I just came into a serious emotional dilemma. My stock motor gave out on me the other night. Lost power, and blew every drop of oil onto the underside of the hood and all over the bay. My dilemma is that I'm a gearhead, and always have been, and rule #1 is everything needs more power. I immediately started looking at turbo kits and a full forged rebuild, even though I know better, because the 420a was NEVER INTENDED to be a turbo motor. I started building drag cars with my dad in junior high. Granted, they were always V8s, but anyway, one of the first things I learned working with Dad was that if you are gonna run any kind of forced induction, you better have a motor built around that plan. Make something stronger here, make something weaker down the line. DSM Dominoes. I know, this is my first DSM, but I have been on this forum since shortly after I got it, and have read just about every piece of information about the 420a that is offered. I just now started posting because, even though I have built some gnarly ass, frame twisting cars, I didn't know a damn thing about imports before I got my Talon. I wanted to sit back and make sure I had a good grasp of things before I started chiming in. It has been stated by people over and over - if you want turbo, go find a 4g car, and these guys know what they are talking about. I know everything I know about DSMs because of this forum, and so far, I have not been steered in the wrong direction, and have learned some awesome, make-my-life-way-easier type stuff. You take a 4g63 car and a 420a car with the motors in the exact same condition, and start building. Then add your turbo setup, which, if you want it to be worth a damn, is going to be a lot more expensive than what ebay would lead us to believe, Then get into fuel management, ECUs, etc, etc. You are gonna dump wayyy more into the 420a as you will the 4g. More than enough to go buy a factory turbo car. That being said... I decided last night that I'm going to rebuild my 420a to be NA. Do I want a turbo? Of course. Do I want the BS and high bill that would come with it? Hell no.
