So pritty much when i shift it will sometimes have a hard time finding the gear. Its slimy feeling when i move the shifter. Also it will not fall into gear and i can tell its not so i keep taking it out and putting it in and it still wont drop unless i let it grind for a sec then it will fall into gear. Its not a big probem and it only grinds in reverse or 1st when i frist start moving and not everytime.

Im still learning to drive a stick so im not going to get any new parts tell im better i just would like to know what to start with when im ready thanks.

Also side question im sure most of you know...do all 4 bolt rear ends off 2g's have LSD?

Are you still moving forward when you try to put it in reverse? Are you still moving backward when you try to put it in first? If so, be at a dead stop when you try to place your car in these gears. A buddy of mine has an Impreza and it does not have synchros in first gear, so you have to be at a dead stop to put it in first or else you will grind.

Maybe draining and putting in the proper fluid? I know it's weird, but Hondas, (my dd), take regular oil in their manual trans'.

That's Hondas - even those little lunchbox Civic Hatchbacks take 30w oil in the tranny.

Had one Civic with a sluggish tranny, thus I drained the oil and filled it with tranny fluid and drove it slow through all the gears in town for a few miles. You should have seen all the varnish that was created, due to old oil, come out of that tranny on that drain! Put new 30w in that tranny and it was very smooth since.

DSM trannys are tons more complicated inside where we need that GL-4 fluid..and auto trannys definitely need the Chrysler fluid or the SP-II..you put Dextron in it and say goodbye to the clutches in a quick.
