Hey all. I've been mulling over the idea.. I've spent a stupid amount of money to get a decent palm that's extremely outdated, find a new battery for it, get a serial adapter, etc. etc.

I was thinking of porting MMCd to Android and then creating a bridge via Bluetooth from the OBD port of the car. Obviously this would be with first gens in mind, but I could likely expand it to include second gens at a later date (and when I have access to a second gen for testing). Let me know what you think, and if you would like to be added to an update list, send me a PM with your email (or post it here). Thanks!

Update available in the market. I'm also going to implement an instantaneous MPG based on injector duty cycles and vehicle speed (which will be retrieved from the device's GPS). You will obviously set your injector size, then it will use a simple formula to calculate your exact MPG (assuming your injectors are flowing properly, that is).

I also have an idea to turn it into something like an S-AFC (though much better resolution is capable with the android, even a full fuel map like on AEM), but that's awhile down the road... Something to think about though.

Enjoy :)

So dumb question what is MMcD? I have a 2G and DSMlink so i dont know what you guys are talking about LOL is it just a tuning software for 1G's

Either way a great f-ing idea theres a huge market for this and it could defenitely be a way of the future considering the processing speeds these phones are capable of. Defenitely would be nice to log some essentials on track days when you cant have your laptop in the seat LOL.

Any Idea how hard would it be to add some features of Pocket Dyno to change just change the Global Fuel & dead-time and maybe a few other things like set a studderbox?

It's a Logger Click Here...

...

I've seen him post this one more then one Board, and I don't understand why more people Can't/Aren't be more suportave... .Lets all just keep using $hitty 10+ year old hardwhere an softwhere an forget about anynew options that someone doesn't even have to kind enuf to share....

+1 on this point. I've already purchased my OBD2 Bluetooth adapter in anticipation. Innovation always seems to be shunned by those afraid of change.

Stutterbox...? You mean like two step launch control? I'm not sure what you mean.. if you mean a two step, then yeah, it would be possible. It would be possible to do anything that a piggyback can do, really. I've never used pocket dyno, though, so I'm not too familiar with what you're looking for there.

Ya a Two-step is what I'm talking about, I'd upload pocket dyno for you to see. but the site won't let me.:| It's basicly a logger with a Global fuel "Tab" that you can change your global fuel and Ve an few thing if your running the right Rom

I haven't had my hands on a Phone that that app works on yet only 1.6 os an it still didn't work :ohdamn: Guess it's time to get a newer "New" phone that will run Froyo... .

But is it safe to say you have it to the point of a functioning app:sneaky:?

Nice to see your working on the hardwere side:thumb:

just think how cool you'd look hooking up your droid to your car and running mmcd
i hate using a palm because it looks so sketchy

I had a LOT of trouble with the backport of bluetooth API's for android 1.6.. so... unfortunately, support has been moved to Android 2.0 as of now. However, google "How to get Android 2.1 on [insert phone here]" or "how to root [insert phone here]" and I'm almost positive you can learn how to upgrade your specific phone to a newer version of AOS *regardless* of whether your handset has received the update. However, I HAVE heard that the Cliq and Backflip are getting Froyo.

Just a teaser - I implemented bluetooth serial connections this morning. This is a youtube video of my phone via Droid at Screen connecting to my desktop PC via a bluetooth serial port: YouTube - MMCdroid Connecting via Bluetooth

Hopefully this stirs people up again (I love doing that :] ) Cheers!

Man I hope this takes off. Just need a obd1 adapter for 1g's.
Nice work so far though.

As of TONIGHT, the hardware officially works: YouTube - 3/S 3000GT Stealth DSM Datalogger via Bluetooth HD

And shortly after that, I got MMCdroid working with it :) As of now, it only polls one value, but I'm reworking the logging loop right now to poll for everything selected. Rejoice, my friends - the dream has come true.

Granted, there is a lot of debugging and re-coding to work on my end, and he still needs to work out deals with PCB companies and such on his end. But the two of us have working versions.

That said, I will be releasing one final "teaser" MMCdroid app to the market before going pay-for, and then pounding out code until there is a viable, releasable version. Can I hear an amen?!
