So I'm shopping for gauges and I see a bunch of very similar gauges under several different names...

Glowshift Black 7 Color Gauge Series

Prosport Prosport Gauges Peak Hold Warning Gauges-52mm Peak recall gauges, Boost, EGT, Oil Pressure, Water temp & More

Defi... you all know them.

Now I run VDO gauges in my other cars and kinda like features of some of these new gauges... Given that feature-wise the prosports, for example, are about the same as Defi the question then becomes are they accurate?

Anyone have experience with any of the above? Are these black face gauges clearly visible in bright sunlight? I also hear some are a bit laggy... All opinions are welcome!

Hey guys, im Ryan from Prosport Gauges, inc. Unlike other expensive companies. We are on roughly 40-50 forums to help customers pick the right gauges and help save them money :p

First things first, if we are going to compare anything to the most common over priced gauge out there (Defi). you should compare them to our premium series Swiss stepper motor movement. We have had our gauges test along side these and were dead on if not more accurate then defi, Autommeter and Greddy. Our performance series gauge will have Swiss movements in them in about 30 days. The performance series is our (base line most affordable gauge).

We have so many new products out now. Our New EVO series gauge just won 4 Best new product awards at SEMA. This Series will not be out for 30 days but here is a teaser picture for you guys.
This gauge has the newest technology inside it. Fed with a LCD screen and top of the line components no wonder it was a hit at SEMA.

Next up on the list is our HALO series that has been on the shelfs for about 30 days. it too uses a Swiss movement and has a ton of more features then the premiums. It does carry over all the same features like the peak and recall. but we did listen to alot of users. New features include: dimming feature, Halo ring, 3 colors, control box seperate, slim design 1.25 inches in depth. here is a picture

Next on the list is our MBC.
Ceramic ball filled and tested up to a 40r turbo. this thing is amazing. We dont have them yet but our samples did so well our distributors have already placed stocking orders :)
NOTE: preorders are welcome if you would like... We are expecting to be sold out. Retail is $58.00 shipped

I just want to point out, we are here to only help you guys. Its better for us to understand what you guys need and want when we log onto these forums and get feed back. you wont get that from other companies like defi, greddy...ETC try buying a replacement part from either of them.... :p just wont happen. We treat you guys the way we would want to be treated if we had an issue.

Hey Ryan nice to hear from you... I had a simple question and I don't mean to offend... Will you guys ever offer a gauge like the Premium or Performance with a clear lens??? I don't care about what's hip, I just want to be able to read my gauges in daylight without having back lights on. Seems silly to need to light up a gauge during the day don't you think? I've asked around and everyone seems to say these gauges are pretty readable during the day.. but this implies they could be better!

As of right now I am looking at Autometer or my tried and true VDO brands for my gauge solution even though these are both non-peak/hold just because I can read them day or night. BTW, thanks for offering metric series gauges!!! Not everyone has them!

I realize the 'Defi' look is what's cool but how about breaking the trend, that would be really cool!!!

Raffi,

I can understand were your coming from but the trend you request well isnt in :(
It wouldn't benefit us to stock peak clear lens as the most popular gauges is the tinted premiums. That being said i dont see to many people complain about seeing them during the day.

We all know the sun will wash out any gauge. it doesnt matter what company it is. If you have tinted windows and your using the visors this deff helps.

But we do offer the clear lens in the non peak. PM if your looking for a combo set and ill give you a great price

Business is business.... I understand.

I'll definitely let you know if I decide to go Prosport gauges!

Thanks

I have seen the Halo series gauges and they are a very nice and accurate gauge when i witnessed them. not to mention that the color selection of blue and amber are nice. personally i prefer amber ### it looks good but also is very easy on the eyes at night.

currently in my car i have defi gauges which were easy as hell to wire. they are very accurate as i compare them against the laptop through EMS. Defi are expensive as hell though so that is something to take into comparsion. As far as daylight goes they are easy to read in daylight. Mine are backlit but it doesnt bother me any since the amber is clear in daytime to.

ultmately the choice is up to you with what you want your cockpit to look like. i would personnally pick either prosport or defi gauges. they are not only sexy but accurate..

good luck

We do love feedback, that is one reason we are on the boards.. A few months back we came very close in going into production on the premium clear lens. It does come up at every meeting about which size, color and background to go with first. How about your opinion on the above questions?? Mainly White face or black face dials ?? Anyone else want to chime in ??

Just an FYI to clarify, the Halo series gauges are three color. Amber, White or Blue. And.. 12 stages of dimming in both day and night modes.

Black face with selectable illumination... I use red in one car and the DSM will probably be amber. Standard 52mm with peak/warning and please, please, please keep making metric scale gauges!!!
