So I'm shopping for gauges and I see a bunch of very similar gauges under several different names...

Glowshift Black 7 Color Gauge Series

Prosport Prosport Gauges Peak Hold Warning Gauges-52mm Peak recall gauges, Boost, EGT, Oil Pressure, Water temp & More

Defi... you all know them.

Now I run VDO gauges in my other cars and kinda like features of some of these new gauges... Given that feature-wise the prosports, for example, are about the same as Defi the question then becomes are they accurate?

Anyone have experience with any of the above? Are these black face gauges clearly visible in bright sunlight? I also hear some are a bit laggy... All opinions are welcome!

My opinion? Auto Meter. I know it's not on your list but they are the only gauges I use (except for my AEM wideband). Look at just about any race car on any race series, what gauges are they going to be using? Auto Meter. Me too!

Hope this helps!

i have a defi boost gauge and it work well i just dont like that it doesnt light up without turning on the dash lights. i do however still like it better than the stewart warner gauges i have in my prelude

Gauges are way overrated. LC-1 wideband logged via dsmlink along with an aem 5 bar map sensor logged via dsmlink. What else could you possibly need ? 1 less reason for someone to come along and break the window due to seeing fancy gauges on the interior.

Glowshift gauges although originally an ebay brand have proven to work just as well as most other brands.

If you can afford the more expensive shit go for it.

i did hear that glowshift water temp gauges seem off.

However my boost gauge was absolutely perfect. I intend to use them again.

Prosport gauges are accurate but very annoying as far as wiring goes. I've tried just about everything to get my white/amber one to not flash between white and amber when my head lights are on. I even tried the red light only mod for the needle because it has enough light to light the entire gauge. I only had the power plugged in for the red light on the gauge. Obviously I still had to have the sender and ground wires but you get the point.

I've had the Glowshift boost gauge for a year now without any problems. It comes with a link cable like the Defi's, so they work in series. I also have an oil temp. gauge of there's as well I'll be installing this winter. No problems as of yet, works nice and I like the fact I can change the color on the fly. Its completely superficial but I originally wanted all blue gauges so that's how I set things up however when I'm tired @ night I don't always want bright lights on my dash (better to sleep while driving right :) Its been nice to change them on the fly to red or amber colors that don't stick out so much. Good luck.

Im using 5 glowshift gauges including EGT, oil pressure, fuel pressure. boost vac, and a wideband and I havent had any issues with mine. Installation wasnt too bad either.

I prefer Defi. I have the advanced CR series ( Fuel press,Boost,Water temp and Oil press). I must say they are the most accurate gauges I have ever used, plus wiring them up is a breeze. If you can afford it, Defi is the way to go IMO.

I run a defi boost, aem w/b. I have used autometer in the past the only problem i have had is after a few years the boost guage once turned off is not set at -3 vacuum instead of being set on 0 like it should be. I have used there other gauges and they have worked great through out the years. Its really up to you as far as what you like, features, and how much you can afford on them. All the brands you've listed seem to be getting good feed back so far, I say just grab the ones you like the best.

I run Auto Meter Ultra Light 2's(Boost/vac, oil, watertemp, and also have a volt but not using it) and they work great. They are not expensive but look good and perform like the more expensive gauges.

I bought a gauge pillar pod from Glowshift that didn't come anywhere close to lining up. If they cannot make a simple mold fit correctly I won't trust them with my engines vital signs.

Yeah who cares how much boost you are running? That's not important. The oil pressure of your engine, yeah, that's overrated. :nono:

Think before you post. Gauges tell you what is going on in your engine. The stock gauges are just the ECU's estimate and are not accurate. Quality gauges can save your engine which isn't overrated in my book.

You realize it's an a-pillar cover, not a replacement. If you took a little time, it lines up great.

I bought glowshift gauges because they were cheap, and so far are dead on accurate. I'm not the biggest fan of having a triple pillar pod, but it gets the job done... now I can see that my boost is spiking up to 15psi when connected to go no more than 9psi, and my stock oil pressure sending unit is taking a dump :)

I have the gloshift ones in my gs-t they look great at night but during the day they become hard to read. When i get gauges for the talon i will be rocking autometer cobalt gauges in a lotec pod. they make the best pod out there in my opinion.

There are other options to an A-pillar pod. This is an older picture but I have Auto Meter Boost and Oil pressure in the center vent, Auto Meter voltmeter in the ash tray location, and AEM Wideband on the steering wheel mount (in front of the the stock oil pressure). I can get an up-to-date picture of anyone is interested.

Looks are secondary to me... I want an accurate gauge that I can read (like my VDO setup). It sounds like Glowshift is out... Prosport is better but questionable... Defi is cool but $$$ and I'm still not 100% clear on how readable they are in direct sunlight, much like the Prosport. Autometer does make a metric series so it looks like it will either be them or VDO even though I really liked the peak/warning feature of the digital gauges.

Who cares how much boost your running. Tune the car and leave it alone. Aftermarket oil pressure gauge is waste of money because by the time you realize what is going on and if you are already in the middle of a pull its gonna be wayyyy to late to realize you do not have any oil pressure. Think before YOU POST. Buy quality parts and you do not worry about failure!!
