I purchased one of those gator-grip sockets from Sears because I thought it would be more gentle on this 19mm rear subframe bolt than the multi-point socket set I use, and on the commercials they guarantee it can take care of even stripped bolts...so did the people at Sears. The nut had a couple minor nicks in it nothing unmanageable...and I shouldhave just bought a cheap standard hex-socket like I panned, because after I made sure the socket was flush with the bolt and started turning

NOT ONLY DID IT STRIP THE NUT HORRIBLY BUT DESTROYED THE THREAD BELOW IT IN A NICE THICK SPIRAL FASHION! THANK YOU GATOR GRIP AND ENDEAVOR TOOL FOR &^$%ING UP MY CAR YOU GIMMICKY JACKASSES! :notgood:

So does anyone at least have any experience or ideas on what the f$*k I'm supposed to do about the bolt or the nut now?? So much for the swaybar removal. I'm working in a storage garage with no power output so Ionno about an air hammer...or if I even know anyone with a compressor. And its the weekend...MOTHERF*&^NG PIECE OF CRAP WORTHLESS SOCKET AAAA!

I use a gator grip before but would never use it on a dsm...I'm not sure I understand the problem but what i do is hammer a smaller size socket over it to remove it then just get a new bolt/nut.

Thanx Whitey, shouldda thought of the smaller socket earlier...too pissed to think straight

someone bought me a Gator Grip as a gift, and I broke it the second time I used it (pins fell out). Products like that are really made for housewives that can't figure out bolt sizes.

There are special sockets for stripped nuts. Sears should have showed them to you.

Whitey?????..LOL...Ya I had this same problem when I was taking the rear out there 14mm(i think) and hammered a 13mm over it..MAKE SURE its a 12 point socket they bite better and spread easier when hammered on..I would suggest a autozone or advanced auto socket because 9 times out of 10 your not gonna get the bolt or nut out of the socket..

if you're going to buy a new tool, why not buy the right one and make it easy?

you can also buy them one socket at a time, or as a wrench.... a whole set can be had for as little as $20

Anyone ever us the Craftsman Bolt Out?

I have a Craftsman Bolt Out set. On of the best lifesaver tools I have. I used it to remove a rounded off flywheel bolt. We all know how hard those are, and how tight they are. Took the right size socket, and a small hammer to tap it completely on to the rounded bolt. Put the socket over that and the bolt spun right out no problems. I was actually very surprised..:thumb:
