I have put zMAX in all parts of my car that came with the kit, they replace the parts if something breaks while you are treating it with it. You all ever used it before? if you have let me know, and also what other additives have you all used that you could tell a difference in? i.e. motor up, engine restore. let me know:thumb:

Which ones have you tried, and found not to work? Did you find one that actually did do something good to your Car? You know the ones Im talking about.. All those Duralubes, Zmax's, Tornado Air cyclone thingy..

Just wondering if anyones every tried these things. heheh. I know alot of people secretly try um :)

For me, I put Zmax into my dads Mazda MX3 (250k miles!) and darn if it didn't calm the idle down and stop all the tap tap tapin.. :)

Tappa tappa tappa.

I tired that cyclone thing. Yea, dont bother with it. I maybe found a gain of negative 30 horse. It was back in my moms old sunfire. It was still in there when it was sold.

I would 2nd the silver Restorer cans you can buy at Walmart for $5...it has helped eliminate some of my engine noise.

Lucas additive for my tranmission smoothed out shifting. The Lucas Fuel System Cleaner was one of the best investments I've made I gained maybe 20 miles to the tank since I used it.

I've tried others, O2 Oil Detergent didn't do anything the cheap fuel cleaners from walmart didn't do anything either.

So to sum it up the only products that seemed to help were:
- RESTORER
- Lucas Transmission Fix Additive
- Lucas Fuel System Cleaner

Add turbo timers to that list

Turbo timers have an actual reason for being there... Many people agree or disagree with the use of a turbo timer but they all still believe a car should be cooled down properly... ALL cars not just turbo cars.

But it is mainly for the use of idling down the turbo. Idling the turbo is important so that the oil inside of a turbo drains out properly. Cool investment for a turbo to last longer? It is better safe than sorry if you upgrade your turbo because those things arent cheap.

Well, I came home from school for the weekend and my mom decided to use that zMax stuff on my engine while I wasn't looking. Anyway, I read that this zMax stuff can actually be bad for your engine. Anyone know about this?

Yep, you're right. The FTC actually sued them, but it's now resolved. That doesn't mean it's not bad for your engine, just that their claims aren't as ridiculous now.

http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2001/02/zmax1.htm

The agency alleges that enhanced performance claims for the product are unsubstantiated, that tests cited to support performance claims actually demonstrated that motor oil treated with zMax produced more than twice as much bearing corrosion than motor oil alone, and that the three different products - an engine additive, a fuel line additive and a transmission additive - were all actually tinted mineral oil.

The complaint also states that the defendants fabricated one "report" from the two test reports, eliminating the bearing corrosion results and all other negative test results, and then used that report and the "official laboratory results" - similarly edited to remove detrimental data results - as sales tools in the infomercial and on the zMax Web site.

This case is the latest in a series of FTC law-enforcement initiatives targeting unsubstantiated claims made by auto additive manufacturers. The FTC previously halted allegedly deceptive advertising by the marketers of Dura Lube, Motor Up, Prolong, Valvoline, Slick 50, and STP, other major brands of engine treatment products.

The Commission vote to file the complaint was 5-0. It was filed in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, in Greensboro, January 31, 2001.

Whos Tried It They Sell A Kit To Go Into Gas And Oil Supposed To Rejevenate Your Motor. Anyone Try It ????????????????????????????????

nothing like that stuff is good for our motors try sea foam but nothing like any of that rejuvinating stuff to make out engines better works maybe some injector cleaners or something but everything else is just rip off

This is one of those grey areas where everyone has an opinion. Try it and see. Also why are you wanting to use it. Those items that claim to rejuvinate your cylinder walls and help with compression are a joke. You are putting a bandaide on something that needs stitches. Check with the manufacturer and see if there is a money back gaurantee and what you have to do to get your money back then try it if you want. On a side note the only additive I have ever used was slick 50 and I can tell you at the time it worked for me. I had a 66 baja bud and ran it dry of oil not a drop left in it and it never hurt the motor. But as I said it is all speculation and opinions.

From the additives section of car bibles:

"The agency alleged that enhanced performance claims for the product were unsubstantiated, that the tests cited to supprt the performance claims actually demonstrated that motor oil treated with zMax produced more than twice as much bearing corrosion than motor oil alone, and that the three different products - and engine additive, a fuel line additive, and a transmission additive - were all actually mineral oil tinted with food coloring."

Now, yes, it is still on the market, and they continue to make there claims, but honestly I dont think its worth the money even to try it. Just stick with your motor oil, if there is something wrong with the engine than get it fixed, if your just looking to throw money at something that may, or may not, help in the long run, save the cash and buy some good gas.

10-4 my motors fine, I just saw the thing on horsepower tv and figured id ask if anyone on here used it cuase i was skeptical.

The FTC wasn't too impressed with it:
FTC Sues Speedway Motorsports and Oil-Chem Subsidiary
An Amsoil dealer doesn't like it:
Just say NO to Aftermarket Oil additive. FTCcharge ZMax and others
And for the guys who know more about oil than we do about DSMs:
Bob Is The Oil Guy

Simply, here's the deal: your oil is already as jimmy-jam packed with all the additives it can use. That's what makes modern oil what it is. Those additives wearing out are why you need to change oil, not because the oil itself wears out: it never will. Some will burn, it will absorb and suspend combustion byproducts and engine wear materials too small to be trapped by the filter, and where locally overheated (the very upper edge of the top fire ring, and the lower edge of the exhaust valve guide [but not the turbocharger bearing on a water-cooled turbo spool]) and mechanically destructed (valve stem pressures will actually cut the oil's long molecular chains), the oil's composition will be destroyed or compromised beyond lubricative capability. Z Max nor any other pour-in shit will not have any effect on this reality. And in some cases, additional additives can be detrimental to those used by the oil's manufacturer.

i know it sounds awsome...but honestly, i doubt it is anything special. there are tons and tons of worthless additives out there, and the pros know that you cant beat fluids from tried and true manufacturers like royal purple, amsoil etc. with an additive. if you really care about your car spend the money to put good fluids in, not cheap stuff with an additive.

Be careful with cheaper fluids with additives as some of them have things like soaps or waxes in them that can actually do some serious damage over time.
