So my gas pedal is stuck at the top position, i have to like slam it to the ground to get it not to stick. When i shut my car off for a few minutes it does it again.

I checked the throttle cable, and it has some slack?

what should i do?

Physically look at the spring where the throttle cable connects and see if it binds up, if not, pop off your UICP and look at what the throttle plate is doing. There might be a lot of gook in there. Clean it up and see if its still doing it.

More than likely you're going to have to replace the cable. Disconnect it from the TB and then step on the pedal and see if it sticks. If it doesn't then your TB needs cleaned, if it does the cable needs replaced.

Its a common problem. Basically your throttle plate is a little larger than the inner bore of your throttle body. this allows the throttle to form a good seal when closed. however if it closes a bit to far it will cause the plate to stick. this is your problem.

to keep this from happening there is a little bolt on the back of your manifold that serves as a throttle pulley stop. you need to adjust this just enough that you can no longer detect it sticking when you let it snap closed. open it too far and you will raise the idle. if you ever need to adjust the idle we have an idle adjust screw that works very differently.

if your throttle stop is missing, which some times happens. you can adjust the slider on your throttle cable on the back of the manifold to take out the slack and carefully adjust the throttle so it no longer sticks. its not the preferred method, its better than a sticking petal.

ps. the all white 2g looks great in that pic :hellyeah:

... usually a bad cable (from corrosion in the shell) gives a sticky crappy feel all though the petal throw.
... It definitely worth taking of the TB elbow and checking to see if its all gunked up in there. use sensor safe cleaner, ie not brake clean or carb cleaner, and Replace The Gasket when your doing it or you will have traded a gunked throttle for a boost leak.

Wow, I read that wrong. I thought the plate was getting stuck open, not closed. As endeffect metioned, there is a throttle stop that you can adjust. Give it a quarter turn and see if it still gets stuck. You want to adjust it as little as possible as not to cause the plate to be too far open at idle.

then it simply needs to be adjusted as described. let us know how it works out.

i have the same problem, and sometimes at idle after i have been crusing for a bit it get stuck at 1-2k rpms, i have to rev it so it can go down. could this be the problem as well?

and its a 1g in a 2g. ( 6 bolt)

that sounds more like either a sticky cable or a gunked up TB housing. when the car is off and cold try moving the TB by hand see if it has any sticking points. I would remove the elbow and clean it out with a sensor safe throttlebody cleaner. (Not brake cleaner or carb spray)
