Ok i have a recent rebuilt motor... its got about 1600 miles on it!
Well i just put in a wide band and my car is running lean.. at idle it is around 15 and goes up to 17, and off the meter! at cruising its at around 14.2-15.2! At WOT its stops at 10.0 solid, dont in think it goes any further! WELL i know this is probably caused by the boost leak i have and cant find!!

BUT i checked my oil and its way above the full line and is really runny and smells of gas!!
Now i did a compression check about an hour ago and going from time belt to the CAS it read, (1)148-150-151 (did it three times) (2)160, (3)165, (4)165 Now i know specs is 150psi... but the i heard it could go down to 140psi with no real problems!(not sure how true this is)

But my main question is, how did this gas get into my oil if the compression is good??
im not really running rich, says my wideband, inless under WOT!

Just trying to figure this out!

thanks for the help in advance!

The oil may smell like gas but it may not be gas. Only way to know is to pull the dipstick and see if the oil on the dipstick will burn (ie: use a lighter to try to set the oil on fire). If it burns then you know for sure your getting gas in the oil.

If you haven't changed any of the tuning, it is typical to run really rich, 1G cars come like that stock. As I understand it, wideband meters don't even read richer then 10:1.

ok but my car isn't running rich at idle.. its lean!! around 15:1 at WOT, the wide tops out at 10.0:1 but i may have a leaky injector... i have a fuel lab AFPR that holds pressure for 30mins after the engine is shut off and i noticed it starts loosing pressure sooner.. im thinking one of my injectors is leaking into the cylinder due to the held pressure!

ill check it out tho!

Widebands don't read richer then 10.1? Pretty sure mine reads down in the 9's..... I'd be careful if you get enough gas in your oil you can wash your cylinders . It sounds like your running rich to me. Being your compression is good I'd say its not that. Did you change your oil after break in ? IV seen instances where gas gets in the oil until all the rings seat completely.

Being lean at idle is normal, the ECU will try to keep it more or less at 14.7:1. During light throttle cruising, I suspect it would stay fairly lean as well.

Yes i changed it three times already.. about to do a fourth oil change! and my wideband stops at 10.0... and 17.9...after that it shows this ( - -. - ) Got an aem uego wideband, inless at WOT my afr is a CLEAN STEADY 10.0!!

im still at work!
But i am 100% possitive its gas.. it is EXTREMELY Runny.. and the oil is only about 500 miles old and its been in the mid 30s all week!

Ill Check it but im sure it is!!

How many miles do you have on the motor since it was rebuilt? On a new motor it is typical to have some gas in your oil until the rings seat. Once they seat, then it will clear itself up. Even when you change your oil, your not getting 100% of it out. I say jus be patient and get some more miles on the motor. Your compression looks ok. Spec for our motors is between 140 to 180, depending on a few variables. 120 is the sevice limit!

If your really concerned, a Cylinder Leak Down test will tell you alot more then a Compression Test will.

Good Luck!

I agree with this post. I would have written something very similar if it weren't already here.

The rings are obviously not seated yet, and you're getting a little extra blowby along with washing the cylinders down from running rich due to the boost leak. Fix that boost leak pronto. And keep your foot out of the gas until the engine is broken in and you fix your overly rich condition. The last thing you want is to destroy your fresh rings, piston skirts and cylinder walls by washing off all the oil with gasoline.

did you see what I said in your other thread?

check your #1 fuel injector, it may be leaking raw fuel down the cyl and washing the rings so they do not seat properly.

Next, pull the vac line from the FPR and sniff it and see if you smell gas, then just watch the FPR vac lin and have someone just cycle the key till the fuel pump cycles on and see if raw fuel comes out.

if the FPK apperes ok, put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail, cycle the FP till max non run pressure is reached and watch the gauge and see how fast it bleeds down, if it zeros in a few secons, I would say bad fuel injector...
