I read somewhere that a galant alt. bolts right up to a 1g talon? is this true? if so what year galant and what model would match my car? I know the stock 1g talon alt. is 75 amps and the galant one is 90 amps, whats the benefit of having higher amps? like i can run a sound system? or what? thanks so much in advance :talon:

Extra amp alternators don't pose any specific danger to your cars electric system. Amps are equal to the "flow rate" of electricity created by the alternator, meaning, yes higher amp alternators are good for demanding applications, however are not necessary in most cases. Not sure about the compatibility with your car.

Yes, this is true, it bolts up with zero modifications I just installed one on my 1g about a week ago. I bought a mitsubishi remanufactured unit from the dealership for $203.73. The 90amp unit you are looking for is mitsu part number MD149750. I believe, but not 100% sure, it is from a 1993 Galant.

I can't give you a good review on it yet since I haven't had much time to drive it at all, but I can tell you that my battery voltage at idle after the install is 14.2v (pretty normal, but not spectactular).

Make sure you have NO Power Steering Fluid leaks dripping on your Alt - that will kill the Voltage Regulator in a Heartbeat & can toast your ECU... If you haven't replace EVERY O Ring on your PS Pump you need to NOW.

I put it on Car Ramps & come from underneath so no need to remove Fan - It's still a PITA...

- I had my Bumper to Bumper guy look up the Highest Amp Mitsu Alternator that would fit a 1G:

- Max amperage 121 amps

- 100 amps at 3000rpm

- Max 1548 watts

- Manufacturer Ampere - Ampere P/N 21491

- Cost was about $150.00

- I run a 1 Farad Cap too with an El-Cheapo Battery that pushes a 500 Watt Sony Amp & head Unit no problems - no dimming, etc.

If you do find a Galant 90A alt (or better), make sure you remember to replace your ALT fusible link with a higher-amperage one, or it'll toast itself. Other than that, yeah, it's just a straight bolt-up.

Thanks for the info, i already got it up and runing for like 2 days, but i was wondering what Buck said about the power steering pump leaking cause the last alt was filled wit grease and I thought that it was oil that might of leaked on it cause i have an oil leak but ill check the ps pums tomorrow. thanks again and yeah it bolted up with no problems at all, i put a 100 amp fuzeable link :) LOL the alt gave out on the highway at night time and my battery started to die its horrible to drive on the highway in pitch black, lucky i didnt hit something

I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

Do the electrical connections all fit perfectly too or does the plug have to be modified?
