Hey just to double check since I see people use the 90A Galant Alternator upgrade... I want to make sure that the Alternator that I have in my 1991 Galant VR4 will be a direct bolt on to the 93 Eclipse GSX AWD Automatic that I have. All I have to do is change out the fuse, correct?

Yes, direct fit. I don't know the answer about the fuse though. What are you changing, the rating? What is it now?

ok

Would a bad alternator explain all these symptoms?

-12V while running, down to 9v with high beams on
-slow as hell windshield wipers
-whine coming from power window motor when I try to roll up/down windows
-car shuts off when High Beams put on for too long
-starts right up when jumper cables on
-brand new battery

this is what I am concerned about. I found this on the VFAQ

"For auto owners, Kyle Zingg posted that the alternator for the auto cars has a different part number, at least for 1Gs. The part number for the 1G auto alternator is MD153843. Manual owners have the same alternator on both the turbo and 2.0L non-turbo engines."

SO, will the alternator I have in my 5 Speed Galant VR4 work in the AUTOMATIC 1993 Eclipse GSX AWD?

Thanks guys!

My Parts guy is telling me that its different since it has an auto trans. Ugh...

First of all, yes you should change the Alternator fuse if you install a 90amp alternator.

Go to any auto parts store and get a 100amp fuse.

The stock fuse is only an 80amp fuse. $4 is cheap insurance to prevent that fuse from blowing and leaving you stranded.

Second, yes that alternator will fit your car. The only difference between the alternators in manual vs auto 1g's was the amperage rating. Manual were rated for 65. Auto were rated for 75. Both will bolt up and plug in just fine. The casings are identical.

If you want proof, go to any auto parts website, type in your car, and visually look at the difference between the two. They are identical except for the amperage rating.
