Went to the Import Showdown yesterday in Reynolds, GA at the Silver Dollar Raceway. Was a HOT day...90+ and humid. :barf: But hey, at least it wasn't raining. Anyways...
Got talked into running the car (dam* peer pressure, LOL). Unfortunately my slicks have not arrived yet so I had not planned on running. I knew it would be pointless w/o them. But I decided to at least see what I could trap. Bear in mind this is my FIRST time ever at the track w/ this car and being FWD it's like having to learn to drive all over again. And the power the car is putting out makes 1st and 2nd gear practically unusable w/o slicks. Anyways, here's the slip. Be nice...the ET WILL! improve. I guarantee it ;)

22-23psi, mix of 110 and 114, 23psi in the Nitto 555's (NOT the drag radials). As soon as the car would hit 5k rpm or so she would roll them over and peg the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd. Made it, as you can imagine, quite a handful. 3rd was very squirrly and felt on the verge of breaking loose on the top end!

Note: she also drove 2 1/2 hrs there and then 2 1/2 hrs BACK w/o a single hitch! :thumb:

You probably won't be able to host on Imagestation anymore; if you want to send me the image, I can host it for ya on my Comcast account.

btw - peer pressure's a bi***, ain't it?

Damn imagestation. I'll have a friend host the pic as soon as I can get it to him. I have a lot of other pics too. Plus videos were taken of all 5 of my runs. Anyways..

Damn that trap speed... :D

So do we get a mods list or do we just get to guess what you have?

With that trap I bet you hit high ass 12's :)

What radials or slicks did you go with?

my friend ran 13.6 in his 93 gst with 17 psi, turbo back, and intake...then again his trap was only 106....thats a hell of a trap man. u better hit 11's. LOL :thumb:

I would even want to imagine trying to keep traction with a FWD. Even with my AWd at around 5500 rpms they just spin and the rpms shoot to 8k with the blink of an eye. I got some 245's on the way tho, hopefully that helps.

damn thats a nice trap...your time is appropriate for my current traps(100mph). Im hoping with fuel and 3in Ill MAYBEturn it to 18psi...but Im happy with 100mph traps on a crappy running car with low boost.
Andrew

ps with slicks I would say high 12s but with an outstanding trap....slicks usually take .25 seconds(from what Ive heard) off your quarter. ohh and congrats...l.keep it up with your fwd

Mods list is long. This is actually turbotalon92's old car. If you look under his gallery one of the pics has a full mods list under it. It's 99% accurate (few little differences). I had gotten out of the DSM thing for about a yr. and a half. My old 91 AWD was a beaut (you can search my username). I fought the bug but finally had to get another one. I couldn't pass on this one for what I got it for. My intentions are to take it to the next level. Chris built and awesome car and I plan on improving on it and taking it to the next level. I WILL figure out how to put the power down. Slicks have already been ordered. All I need to do is find some 13x8 drag wheels now. The times would have been better, although not significantly so, on street tires, but this was my FIRST time EVER at the track w/ this car. My last run I was at 23-24 psi but lost it in first (turned over on me right from the get go). I have NO DOUBT that if I could have held it together a little better she would have trapped over 120. Even the top of 3rd was at it's limits for traction. Gotta love runnin 120mph in 3rd gear though at 9k rpm OMG :D

On a side note, I wish I could've met up with alot more of the DSM guys. I talked to a few, but oddly NOONE came to talk to me or any of my friends after any of my runs. Kinda disappointing. We ended up leaving at 330. I think I was like the last to qualify for the DSM class, but we didn't stay long enough for me to run in it. Oh well. Car felt awesome though. And went through the whole day w/o a single hitch (I was impressed).

Here are my other times. I'll get the actual slips up as soon as I can.

LOL!

You've got some practicing to do! The cars got it in it though. Nice trap!

FWD takes a LOT of practice.

are u spraying? because with that high of a trap, u should be pulling lower ET's. i ran a 14.1 at 101 with just an o2 dump and my 60 foot was the same as yours.

With a 2.5 60' you prolly just spun on the launch, He is spinning all through first and
second.

Nice MPH now drive that thing to some low 12's!

i was spinning thru 1st and 2nd too whor-hay. i shoulda broke 13's. my friend did, but i was running open o2 housing which equaled a huged amout of heat soaking. i was getting a lot of knock and shoulda been at least in the 13.8 range. me and my friend are dead even on the highway when im open o2, he has a full exhaust tho, also FWD.

The problem I ran into was having to ease into it off the line to avoid immediate wheel spin. Problem w/ that is w/ the size of the turbo there is a, how do I say, "fair" amount of lag under 4krpm. Once she would reach 4500-5k rpm she would just roll them over and be bouncing off 9 grand before you could even think straight. Then I'd have to grab second and it would lag and then build and then the same would happen when boost came on. On to grabbing 3rd, little bit of lag, and then bye bye. Hold the fuc* on and fight to keep it straight the rest of the way down the track. Even at the top of third you could feel it on the edge of breaking loose again. :) If I had had some more passes the ET's would've improved some. How much, I don't know. Like I said, this was the FIRST time I've had her to the track. She's quite a handful. Really putting the power down is going to be a challenge. But I have every intention of getting her where she should be. It's funny how different this car is compared to my last two awd Talons (my last fwd was a 97 gs-t that I bought in 97! w/ only minor bolt-ons). After running I kept saying, "man, in my old talon that would've been like a mid-high 11 sec. pass." LOL. But one thing I do know, I sure love running damn near 120mph through the traps in 3rd at 9k rpm. That's a rush. :thumb: My awd's never came close to that. Let the ET quest begin.

Well, here's the pics for ya :thumb:
