Fwed 255 walbro install problem

Okay, So i got the old pump out and put the new pump on.. but it's no going back in just right.. there is like a 1/8" gap at the top between the tank and assembly...

Also I followed the instructions provided by the person i bought the pump off and he said he crimped the old + to the new pumps + and then just electrical tapped it really well and it was fun sitting in the tank? Is the fuel gonna short this and make me grenade?

What should I do about the 1/8" gap.. i've gone at this 100 different ways.

There should be a rubber spacer that goes in between the pump and the bottom bracket.

yes i've looked at that.. I just can't figure out why there is 1/8" at the top.. i could probably force it cloesed.. is that connection gonnna be fine in the tank.. seeing that the plug on the wally.. isn't protected at all?
