might be in need of another FWD tranny for my 95gst, are all FWD gst trannys the same up to 99? ive seen that transfer cases and somethings are different from 95-96 and 97-99. will a 1g FWD tranny work as well?

just want to know what i can look for
thanks guys

Any 95-99 FWD turbo transmission will work. Being that your car is FWD, you don't have a transfer case so you needn't worry about that. A 1G (90-94) transmission will not work.

The 2G has three of the four power train mounts on the transmission whereas the 1G has three of the four on the engine. Neither the 2G engine nor the 1G transmission has provisions to "bolt up" in the other generation vehicle. A 2G transmission can be used in a 1G car because it only has to rely on the one (transmission side) mount.

:ohdamn: I totally forgot about the mounts!! I was thinking that he was saying that maybe the gear ratios were different but then I thought, that wouldnt matter because its FWD. No need to worry about xcases or diff ratios.. Thanks for clearing that up for me!!
