A shop just put my friends car back together and the flywheel does not turn. Apperantly the shop forgot to put in the tranny plate, the plate between the motor and the tranny. Im not sure if this is the problem but they think if they put washers the same thickness of the tranny on each bolt it will work for something temporary.

Does anyone know the exact thickness of a 2g tranny plate? its for a FWD if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Are you reffering to the tranny metal plate that is like a shim that goes between the block and the transmission . If so the starter would spin at a very high speed if its not grabbing hold of the teeth on the flywheel . I would say dont shim the tranny thats not smart. Shim the starter thats the way to fix it without taking the transmission out. the tranny plate is about 2pennies thick .

if your trying to say the flywheel is not turning in the bell housing and the starter dosent turn i wouldnt shim it with washers only because if its out to far the torque converter can possibly get damaged i would get a hold of the plate and throw it in
