I've searched and can't find anyone who has done this. Long story short, I accidentally purchased a clutch slave cylinder for a 1990 Turbo FWD Eclipse instead of an AWD (90 GSX = not in profile). The part actually fits, but will not line up to the clutch hardline.

My question is... Can I just buy a SS Clutch Line from RRE and call it a day or is there a BIG difference between the two Slave Cylinders that would affect the vehicle?

You may be thinking... "why not just go back and get the AWD part?" I was thinking the same thing until I noticed how incredibly easy it would be to bleed the clutch with the FWD part... because the AWD clutch slave cylinder really sucks to have to bleed. I'm sure you AWD guys know what I'm talking about.

So anybody have any experience with this?

if i was you i would just take it back and get them to exchange it for the right one. swapped out mine with another slave and it turns out the new slave moves the piston housing like 1/2 inch farther away from the clutch fork. if your going to do it do it right the first time and save yourself the time and trouble of trying to make it work.

Well,
I decided to take your advice i1nk83, but turns out that Autozone doesn't carry the correct clutch slave cylinder with the bleeder and line on the same side. Their corresponding Part number 10391 for a 1990 GSX has the bleeder and line on opposite sides (bottom pic). Anyways, I just got my money back and found a website that has the right one for fairly cheap. It came out to about $50 shipped and I should have it by the end of the week.

On a similar note I decided to take out my bleeder all the way to see if there is a problem with it and it looks like its covered in rust or some sort of deposits. So.... hopefully the new slave with the new bleeder will make the job a lot easier!

Well... got the new Slave installed and bleeding was WAY easier! Now the clutch is functional and I can drive the car again! :thumb:
