Won't let me post on "DSM TECH"
so i am posting here

Just recently put a different 4g63 6bolt motor. The car turned on but idled really rough. not sure if i have something connected wrong??
As it was idling, smoke was coming from the fuse box, opened it up to find this burning. (pictures in attachments) this wire was hooked up under " Radiator/Fan "
I'm guessing only the top 2 should have power, correct me if im wrong.

Now what can be causing this? now i don't have power on my ignition, dash, no power what so ever inside the car.

Everything else is good, just that part only burned. ran through the wires that connect to it, it was only the top that burned

It could be your fan being bad.

Disconnect the fan and test the lines, There shouldn't be any ground on the line (from the fan to the fuse box), this is with the fan disconnected, if there is ground with the fan disconnected and no relay at the fuse box, then that's your problem, just fallow the wire and see where is grounding, It could be a melted wire as well.

However, the car should run with out the jumper wire, It is there only for the fan to turn ON.

About the inside current, I am not so familiarly with vr4 but on 2gs there is one wire that feeds the inside of the car, It is stated as fuse link #2 or B Check your fuse box and see if there is any that says something alike,,,, If you remove the fuse box and turn it upside down, you will be able to see the big wire that feeds the inside.

You know, i am going to have to agree with you on this miguelmcv. the " Fan " the reason i say that, somehow while putting the radiator and fan together back onto it's place, the wires that connect to the fan were very loose. it wiggles. i pretty much jammed the radiator in(i know shouldn't of, was having trouble with my intercooler piping, need to get it custom done now) & i noticed too when the car was on, the fan would go on and off and then the fuse box area started smoking. but yes, on the fan there is wires that connect to it and it wiggles alot. so the fan can most likely be my problem correct?

As for the inside, my dad just pointed out that a 40a fuse blew. so that might be a fuse for my inside problem.

Now i have another question, when it was idling, it was idling very rough, i am sure it was timed right, we triple checked that. motor sounded like it was choking moving up and down alot, so i was wondering, can it be that my piping is the reason for it not to idle right? doesn't look bad on picture but i feel like it is bad and the main reason. Red is the piping area that's not passing air flow good. The blue area, is where i stated that i jammed the radiator into it's place which was hitting against the stock piping and caused the wires on the fan to be very wiggly.

Oh and just so no one is confused, it's not a 1g/2g or vr4, mirage...

Fist, thanks to clarify about your car model.

Well, You have to check and test the line from the radiator fan and see if it is not grounded, if it is not grounded, then your fan could be bad, but you have to check the line first before replacing the fan.

Second, It sounds like your dad found your problem for the inside, so you should be Good there which the fuse stands as Ignitions switch.

About your Idle problem, I don't see anything wrong with those hoses, so my best bet is to do a boost leak test, which it is the #1 cause of those kind of problems.

You have to make sure there is no exhaust leaks ether, which it will cause a permanent up and down idle, the idle will go up and down, up and down, and will be like that all the time,,, also, if your throttle body is leaking, it will cause the same problem.

Do all that to see if that fixes your problem and report back what you found and we can go from there.

Yeah im going to check the fan for sure tomorrow after work or the weekend when its day light. well that hose is kinda squashed actually, might not better letting air flow correctly? boost leak test, will be doing for sure, and right now i have the exhaust open but i doubt that will be a problem. throttle body, ill check that as well. i will keep updating if i find more things that i see, 1 thing i did not check, my boost gauge. didnt see it if it was reading vacuum or not. should have checked it but tomorrow i will check out everything good.

also look into ISC motor as maybe being an option

for sure, im going to check everything.

thanks again for the tips guys, i appriciate it

Alright guys, i am going to work on this on the weekend for sure. im only off on weekends. so what i am going to do, is disconnect the fan and turn on the car to show what it does, i will also find out what caused the wire to burn. i will keep everyone updated.

Update guys, so i got the car turned on, took off the fan and no fuses burned. the fan wiring was messed up and it was the reason of the wiring and fuses.
Thanks to the member "miguelmcv" letting me know about checking the fan, i appreciate it man :hellyeah:

Car still idling kinda bad, so i towed it to my friends shop. took it there so he can check the timing or if there's any leaks. also took it there not just for that, also for getting custom intercooler piping and fmic done, 3in full turbo back, and going to order forced performance turbo manifold. get better air flow.

thanks for the help guys! will keep updating
