The vent is right at the valve cover but not enough over it to get in the gally where the plus wires lay...

The whole idea behind this is it will help keep temps down at idle and while cruising with the louvers(Which will also help stop the rain from going any further backwards :hellyeah:) and with SSAC FMIC ducted(not fully sealed) to the radiator which has a SPAL 1630 cfm pusher style fan on it it will keep air flowing in the direction and then up and out of the vent(I THINK):thumb:

Let me know what you guys/gals think...

if it were cleaner i'd probably like it better, however, it serves a purpose and for that i dont have anything negative to say.

Function over form FTW!
Im sure its proportional, the hump just throws it off..

smooth it out to look like 1 piece instead of seeing were it overlaps and i would be sold :thumb:

As stated it will be smoothed out and attached to the hood on both the underside and top side so you will not be able to tell....

But functional yes!!

As to it being proportional, it is in every way... 13 3/4" from both sides and 12" from the bottom of the hood... It just the way it sits with the hump in the hood that makes it looks like it is not even close to straight

I tried to get as close to that as possible with keeping it looking good/close to stock...

The stupid hump kills it though but for some reason a DSM without the hump isnt a DSM

That's exactly why I don't like it, but mad props to you for choping up a good hood and trying!

I wish someone would make the 1 evo hood for our car. No random bump and the vent would be 1 piece and not 2.

This one:

Would LOVE to see that made for our cars as well. I dislike the current Seibon/VIS EVO ones cause they look so out of place, and sit so high.

*Edit*

Actually, after looking at it a bit, I guess it's normal as the original evo's sit kinda high too and flow's with the car. Just don't like how it flow's with dsm's ;x

Ive been busy with work so things are moving slowly but hoping to have the car on the road by this weekend....

Here is the hood pretty much finished just needs paint which I will spray monday...
Paint the vent and hood all gloss black OR hoog gloss black and vent flast flack?

Looks nice man, I did a similar type thing just smaller. It REALLY helps underhood temps! I just made a little flap to close if it rains.

I dont expect leaves to get in there and it is the same deal the Evo has and basically the same placement with a Coated Manifold under it so im hoping to have no issues other than maybe a little steam when it drips on it which is not an issue...

A grill will be easy to place in there if I see it is needed but thanks guys...

what about water running down the hood? seems like it could just run down from the top and straight into the engine bay, any worries of that or is there a small edge i cant see to make water travel around it?

oh and also is there a hood for our cars that dont have that hump or do we absolutly need that hump because of our cams?

the hump is not needed, you can find non-hump hoods on ebay, and the 420a, the cams are on the opposite side and dont get in the way as well with the 1.8 the cams are on the opposite side of the 4g63. so the 4g63 cams dont cause interference with the hood, with or with out the hump.
