Full Race manifold (or copy), upper Radiator hose?

you guys really ought to checkinto the 1g radiator idea. the inlet is about 4 inches from the passanger side of the radiator, it would clear by a mile. youll have to see if it would fit in your car though.

I was going to say the same thing. Since you are all about the bling why not go with a nice aluminum rad from Fluidyne or someone and move the filler neck closer to the passenger side of the car?

Paul, does that manifold's WG line tap only to the #2/3 exhaust runners or does it open up to a collector at that point?
That area is considered the collector, but it's primarily on the 2 & 3 runner area of the collector.

Are you going to wrap the header or leave it be? :dsm:
As of right now, I plan to leave it as is. But I might change my mind down the road and decide to wrap it.

I've heard stories of those manifolds baking the paint right off the hood, so may want to source some of that self-adhesive reflective heat shielding if not wrapping :dsm:
Great minds think alike. I just bought 2 square feet of that stuff Friday afternoon. I'll probably stick in on tomorrow. :thumb:

New setup looks good paul. How is the turbo working out for you? I hope great LOL. I thought the pic on the full race site had a different radiator but I guess it doesn't. it seems like you are going to have to go with the mandrel bent route. I think it would look good. All the supras guys do it and it looks great.
Thanks man. The turbo is working great, I'm loving it. Thanks again for the deal, Zach.

Yeah, I noticed that many of the Supra guys do it. Mine will be the same concept....

Why not go with the peice from Alien Auto? Too pricey?
Well, their website seems to be under construction, so I have yet to see the piece or even a price. But chances are, I would be too cheap to buy it. I'd rather save $ and make my own. Do you have a link to more info about it?

I'm not really "all about the bling" like I used to be. (Bruce is just poking fun @ me, as we always do :) ) But I would not mind having a nice new aluminum radiator. The thing this, I just bought my first house this week, so I'll more short on funds than normal. It might be something I do down the road though.

PS - Thanks for the pic, Dustin.

That setup looks nice! let us know how it performs. Definitely looks like something I would like to do down the road, specially with that price tag, hela of a deal. Normally I wouldn't trust any OBX products but after reading the other thread, seems very legit and durable.

Have you tried to fit that piece yet? Some people have not been able to make the Alien Auto/Linder Power Systems radiator pipe work. Apparently the pipe doesn't line up with the water neck very well.

a friend of mine had that same manifold, it cracked before we could get a real good solution made for it. So my friend just broke out the welder and made a new one! We tried wraping it but i guess our warp was not that good because it melted the hose.

Your welcome Paul hope I could help some. That aluminum radiator piping looks good, hope it fits up no problem for you. I may go for this OBX header down the road, I would go with the real full race but at 1300$ for an exhaust manifold, I think Ill spend that money on a GT35R. Yeah I would stick that self adhesive heat shield would be good for under the hood to keep the hot temps from baking the paint and bubbling the clear. If it were me I would wrap the radiator pipe, and the header, but thats just me, I like my coolant cool, and keeping the heat inside the header:) .

No I haven't fit it up yet, but if there is fitment issues, I am fully capable of modifying it. I can cut, weld, etc... Thanks for the advice though, Luke. :thumb:

Remember that the point where that hose connects will move 2-3 inches, that is why its made of rubber, and has two 90deg bends.
I dont think that silicone stuff will cut it unless you have your motor secured well(prothane & engine damper).
Going to put a bead on that pipe?

Do you have a local radiator shop? If you do, they could cut off the old "neck" on the end of it and put it anywhere you would need it to be. I've seen it done on a few applications and it turns out just fine. Then you don't need to worry about using couplers/pipes to have a radiator hose.

I've got Prothanes, so my engine does not move much. But I'll be sure to leave enough coupler on each end for engine movement. And yes, I do plan to bead the ends.

2g's have plastic endtanks on the radiators. An all metal 2g radiator is a rare thing.
^^^ Yup. :thumb:

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but has anyone tried a 1g radiator on a 2g? Why or Why not? I haven't researched it, but just saw that a few people mentioned it here and no one had anything to really say about it? Just thought I would throw it out there...:thumb:

Paul, how is the manifold holding up??
The car has been down since the day after the dyno session so it only has a few hundred miles on it tops so far. And its going to be a long winter before its back on the road, with the AWD swap and all. :)

Anyone...? It's not a big deal, just wondering if anyone has done this or if the mounts are different, which might be obvious...?

Do you know if he experienced any significant increase in airflow or hp(via dsmlink) with the ram horn style manifold??

I'm about 90% sure the bottom mounts are different between 1g and 2g cars. E-mail RRE or Slowboy or some other vendor that sells aluminum radiators, I'm sure they would know.

Thanks appreciate it, just wondered if anyone had done it or modified one to fit a 2g? I know there are some guys on here that have just bought like custom ones and had the neck moved over or just put wherever. Thanks though...:thumb:

Not sure. It wasn't the only changing factor, so I can't say. I also installed my new turbo at the same time, as well as a fresh and much better race gas tune. I did gain a quicker spool, but I feel it was mostly due to the more aggressive tune.

To answer your first question, I am very happy with this manifold thus far. Like Dan had stated, I didn't get but about 300 miles on it, along with 7 dyno pulls. I have zero doubts about this manifold, but only time will tell.

For about $400 and the decent reviews I think I might just do this. Anyone have a recent link to where I could get one. I searched Ebay but I couldnt come up with anything other than Honda pieces.

Also, does anyone know if I could get one without the wastegate on the manifold?
