what is the best fuel tuner the safc2(or similar) or a maft translater. My setup is only 16g 550's and 190lph rewired. What is the easiest to tune and which will give me the most out of my car. and also is it necessary to have a datalogger with my setup? Thanks

S-AFC will be the most reliable to tune with. The MAF-T is hit or miss, but the S-AFC is proven to work. Plus, there are numerous people here who have it and would be able to help you out tuning with it. The S-AFC can handle up to 660cc injectors or so which means you'd be fine and have a little bit of growing room.

I would not start tuning unless you have a logger.

well im currently using the basic maft translator and safcII and while i like it i really wish i would of went with DSMlink. Of course im running a little bit more aggresive setup than you and you should be fine with any of the piggyback if you plan on staying with that setup.

there are also a couple different versions of the MAF-T the basic one is really just that it allows you to use a GM maf and while it does have tuning capabilites its pretty limited and all adjustments have to be done under the hood which is a major PITA.

THe other 2 versions of the MAF-T are very nice (gen II and pro) they are wired in just like the SAFC and give you a nice little controller for inside(as well the pro can be hooked up to a laptop as well as having the option to make it a electronic boost controller or nitrous/meth controller very easily) As well both these units allow wideband tracking which is a really nice feature.(if you have a wideband)

the SAFC's are pretty good and have been used for a long time but really unless your really on a budget and have no intentions of switching to a GM maf then this is probably for you.

and of course your going to need a real logger of some sort no matter what unit you choose.

my vote is for DSMlink but if not get the maft genII or pro

While i agree that the old MAF-T (like the one i've been using for the last 3.5yrs) is a major pain in the ass to tune with by itself(which is why i have the safc) but the newer units are pretty much a much improved SAFC they wire in exactly like a SAFC and have the same tuning setup as a safc (high/low table across certain set points and is adjustable from the drivers seat)

also for refrence im using 680cc injectors and dont have to much of a problem with them at all using a piggy back FMS
