alright well last night i went out to start playing around with my tuning capabilites, and started to do some hard pulls, after i did a pull from 0-100 and let off, i slowed down to around 60 and tried to accelerate again but instead of gaining speed, my fuel pump started to whine really bad, like sitting in a S/C Cobra bad. and it wont let the turbo spool anymore. it idles fine, drives alright, but when it trys to spool , the pump just whines louder and louder, and the car barely picks up rpm's. any mechanically or electrically inclined geniuses please help :)

I would think the filter screen on the pump in the tank has clogged up causing the pump to cavitate thus the whine ,and more so when you try to spool up needing more fuel = more whine .

The fuel pump has NO idea when you are in boost or not. It pumps the same amt. of fuel regardless. Sitting at idle or at 7k rpm, still the same. I'm guessing you have a mechanical problem, possibly turbo related.

thats what i thought at first, but then i had a friend drive the car and i got in the back and the sound was definatly coming from the back. the car doesnt smoke, i took the intake off and shaft for play and there wasnt any. ill keep poking around try to find out. thanks for the help so far

i would agree with the idea that it is your fuel filter... if it was your fuel pump, your car should still build boost but fall on it's face because of the lack of fuel(lean pop).... i wouldn't bag your car at all cause it could be running very lean.... e-bay has walbro's for cheap(a great upgrade) and a fuel filter should be changed each 20,000 k idealy... could get a K&N fuel filter if it is the problem beacuse you can clean them.... they are expensive as heck though.. on my car i run one for big block boat motors.. the filter is the size of an oil filter and there are dual inlets and outlets so that dual fuel lines can be ran... i will get the exact info and reply back!!!!

yeha mine is a walbaro 255lph, that is about a week old. the fuel filter was replaced around 14k miles ago. thanks for the suggestions, my hands are soaked in fuel as iam typing this since i took my whole fuel pump assembly out, trying to figure what the heck is going on.

Check your wiring to the pump. I noticed that my Walbro pump's whine would change tone when there was a change in load on the electrical system. The change in sound of the pump may indicate it's being loaded down electrically- there may be a bad ground, or loose connection. Also after checking your profile I noticed you don't have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, for that pump you should probably have one. It would make tuning much easier for you.
