Fuel pump question

Hey everyone, i have a quick fuel pump question. My car didn't have any fuel pressure(i undid the lines at the fuel filter), so i assume that means its the fuel pump. I took the fuel pump out, and it seems like the connections are bathed in gasoline inside the tank. Is there anything i need to do? I checked my Haynes manual, and it didn't mention anything, but doesn't it seem like it would explode with the electrical terminals in the gas? Anyway, if there is anything else to make this easier, let me know!

I have a 90 1.8 laser.

Make what easier? Sounds like you already have the pump out.

Yes, the whole assembly will be covered in gas. There's a how-to on this at vfaq.com, by the way.

Thanks for the reply. I guess the non-turbos are different. I have to access the pump from underneath the car. I guess i wanted to make sure the terminals were in the gas like i thought. Thanks!
