I installed an Autometer Sport Comp boost/vacuum gauge a few days ago. At idle my gauge is reading 0,and under acceleration drops to the 15-18 range. When I let off the gas it goes right back to 0. When I get on it a bit my boost is about 6-8 psi(I have an automatic). Now on to the fuel pressure solenoid...I was nosing around to see if any of the vacuum lines might have had a hole in them, and I noticed that the end that is supposed to go into the intake manifold(correct?) is attached to nothing,it's just hanging there. Is it supposed to be connected to the manifold? Will this hose not being connected cause my gauge to act like this? When I get more time I'm going to do a boost leak test,I know I'm not supposed to be at 0 at idle. I've added a MBC but I'm not messing with it until I get this fixed. I'm a novice when it comes to cars but thanks to this site and my Chilton's and Haynes manuals I'm learning alot. I can't seem to find anything on here about this. The pic below shows what I'm talking about. Thanks

Thanks though
...once that was changed I started her up and the gauge read 18-20 inhg at idle. Took it for a test drive, read about 10-15 inhg at about 50mph. Boost about 5-6 psi. Geez how could I make something so easy into something so hard? Thank you kenamond,I checked over that vfaq article and wondered if I had tapped the right line after reading it. Only thing is now I need to reconnect the EVAP line that connects under the manifold. I can see the brackets from the battery side of the engine compartment, but none look unplugged. The line might be cut,I'll have to look tomorrow. Will the EVAP not being connected have an noticable effects on my car? I know it conncets to the charcoal canister. Thanks again kenamond and dream on
