fuel pressure falls

i have a problem i think its the fuel pump just not 100% sure i just need some feedback when i go to start my car it takes a longer than it should to start and when it does start it runs rough and my fuel pressure regulator reads 43 psi but then it gradually falls untill it hits 20 then my car dies after about 5 or 10 mins of idling and when i turn the key to the on position i cant hear the fuel pump idk if it is not suppose to prime when it is turned to the on position or while its cranking it a 2g eagle talon tsi awd please help

Probably a bad afpr diaphragm. But if its holding at 20, its possible its just bound up against the spring seat or one of the fittings are loose/leaking. Pull it apart and take a look.

Check the basics like vacuum to the FPR. Is it a stock, or AFPR? Lastly, is it running straight vacuum or is it hooked up to various emissions devices?

The easiest method would be to swap out the FPR after verifying you have good vacuum. You could also rent a fuel pressure tester from good 'ol Autozone/Advanced and test the pump directly. On 1g's, we used to tap the heads in a little and if we gained our pressure back, we knew it was a bad FPR and it needed to be replaced.

i took my afpr apart and it seemed like it was in good shape what do i look for when the diaphram is messed up it didnt seem to have any wear on it

and i believe it is just staright vacuum im not 100% sure

I'd change the fuel filter also while your at it.
