I recently had an AWD swap done on my GST Spyder, and after getting it back, the fuel level gauge read 1/4 of a tank, when my friend (who did the swap), said he filled the tank up all the way. The gauge moves still, but won't go above 1/4 of a tank. He said they chopped the AWD harness out of the donor car and wired it up to the FWD harness. What could be the problem? Any and all solutions would help. I'm going to attempt to investigate them all when I can.

I've had the same problem with an 01 galant after an awd swap. Sometimes the send level unit gets stuck in the tank and screws up the resistance. Open the ring cover of the drivers side compartment and check if everything there looks good and if the resistance output is accurate. Try doing this when you actually get low on gas if you don't want to deal with a mess.
