3 months ago I was driving my 99 Eclipse GSX to Walmart picking up diapers and what not but I only made it half way down the road when all of a sudden I lost a bunch of horsepower and I had to downshift to 1st gear. Had to turn around and park it back in my driveway.

While I was driving I couldn’t go past 1000 rpm and it would stay at 1000 rpm with the pedal all the way down. I did some research and I’m still doing research but to no avail. I replaced spark plugs and the coil packs. I checked the fuel injectors and two of them had white residue and a bit worn. I ordered new ones 2 days ago. Just waiting on them to get here

Throwing parts at it is an expensive way to diagnose. Any codes? Did you do some basic visual checks? Boost leak test? Were you under load? Did you test the injectors or the circuit? Check ecu?

I started taking parts out to replace them. I got to the fuel injectors and two of them were worn pretty bad. The rings on the top of them were worn pretty bad and they were really dry. The car was running fine before the issue had started.

Plus I don’t have an obd reader. I’m going off of base knowledge of trying to figure this out. My fuel injectors came in today and I’m gonna replace them tomorrow

I’d double check your ignition system. I had a similar issue. I threw a code for random/multiple cylinder misfire though. Rolled into her getting in 81 and lost power and threw a huge cloud of black smoke. I thought she was done for.

Limped it about 15 miles down 81 to my exit I wasn’t letting her sit as my first RS was stolen off the side of 81 after my alternator went out on my way home. My dad was waiting at the bottom in case it shut off when I had to sit at the light. Pushed in the clutch and then car suddenly snapped out of it. I replaced the coils with a COP setup I had that I didn’t put in yet. I never had that issue again. That was over 10 years ago.

I can see if it is the ignition system but idk if that would work. I have a video of the car running

Here’s the video

You can get a blue tooth reader for 25$. Works with an app on your phone.

So I put in the fuel injectors and I noticed the stock turbo gauge on the dash going up when the pedal wasn’t even pushed down. Also it’s a 96 gst turbo eclipse. Sorry if it says 99 gsx. That’s what my step dad told me when I got it from him

You sure that the throttle cable didnt break?

Have you checked the throttle position sensor to verify its readings?
The throttle body cable didn’t break. But I’m taking off the throttle body rn to clean it. Maybe it’ll be good then. Idk…. I just need a car running soon.

Per other conversations, stock boost gauge has nothing to do with boost. It is a calculation the ECU uses based off airflow. Did you do any of the things I suggested? Do you have a check engine light? Did you boost leak check? Were you under load when this happened? What visual/physical checks have you done? How did you determine fuel injectors were "worn"? What part was dry? oring? The injector is supposed to be dry. Elaborate here. Did you decide to get a code/datalog reader?
I'd love to help you but you have to give us some objective information. Whatever you do I wouldn't throw any more parts at it. Thats up to you. Diagnosis is in order and if you were under load my bet is on a boost leak. At least do a pull and tug visual on all the pipes and see if one is obviously loose.

No check engine light. I don’t have a boost leak. I checked the pipes one of them was off but I put it back on. Like I said I was driving to Walmart I got passed the police station which is down the road from me and then I lost horse power and couldn’t go over 1000 rpm. I can hear the turbo spooling and whistling. I checked for boost leaks and I have none. Imagine stepping on the pedal and you have a slow/sluggish response. But when you try to push it down all the way it sounds like you can’t even go past a certain rpm

The loss of horse power happened immediately to where I had to be forced to downshift to 1st

Plus the fuel injectors were worn bad. The plastic at the bottom were broken and the rings at the top were really dry even when I pulled them out. Pieces of the ring were missing. I just replaced the bad ones earlier today. Also wdym by under load? I’m new to Dsm and turbos and all that stuff. Granted I have worked on cars before but not ones with a turbo. I’m dipping my toes in the water here. The car ran fine for a couple days. I drove it home from my stepdads house and it ran fine

How did you check for leaks? You cannot just visually look. You have to pressurize the intake tract.
A pipe blew off? That's a huge leak. The biggest you can have and will 100% cause what you describe.
Under load means we're you on the throttle or were you just cruising?
The brittle rings and rubber isolators are not indicative of worn injectors, just worn seals. You did the right thing replacing seals but likely the injectors themselves are fine. The seals are also a boost leak. The injectors seal against the intake manifold.
So....
I would suggest a proper boost leak test. Search the site on how to perform. Answer my questions please.
