Ok, just like the title says. my boost gauge stopped working all of the sudden, so i decided to pull it out to see if i could diagnose a problem. Oh boy, i see a little fluid traveling toward the boost gauge when I'm boosting. Took my boost gauge off to discover that it was gasoline. I'm a little confused. here's a pic of where my gauge is tapped.

That's a pretty elaborate way of tapping into that vac line, a plastic T fitting would have worked just fine. You shouldn't be seeing any fuel coming from that location, unless your stock fuel pressure regulator is screwed.

The only place the fuel could be coming from is the regulator. Thats a common way to test the regulator is to pull the vacum line and smell for fuel.

I was couldnt find a plastic T. Plus i'm almost a plumber so it works.....i'm kinda pissed though cause my 50 dollar gauge is full of gasoline. Could the bad fpr be causing shitty gas mileage ??

Yea a bad fpr definitely would cause bad gas mileage. It'll starve the motor for fuel causing loss of power and mpg. I had the same problem and it made a world of difference.

Yup, toasted FPR.

It wouldn't really hinder fuel consuption so much as it would cause you to run lean during WOT and blow the engine. Then again, it's certainly not helping.

Which would also probably explain your fuel cut problems chris. i agree its probably starving it for sure when you jump on it so it seems like you're cutting.

Fix it kid!!

After my timing belt let go, I couldn't figure out why the car wouldn't start. I checked all the fuel components and noticed there was fuel in my vacuum line that goes to my boost gauge. Lo and behold, I could twist the vacuum end of the fuel pressure regulator and fuel pissed out of where the vacuum diagphram "was supposed" to be. Get that fuel pressure regulator replaced or if you're a smoker, don't light up on a cruise...you might get a face lift for free! :nono:
