Ask Me,
Virginia
I have done some searching, but the setup in my engine bay looks different than some of the threads pics that I have seen.I haven't been able to snap pics though.
This is how my setup was:
I had an autometer phantom boost gauge connected to the "p" port of the throttle body.
The VFAQ and a few posts here seem to imply that I can connect the vacuum line directly to the throttle body.
On my DSM (It may be the same for others), There is a vacuum line coming directly off the "p" port of the throttle body and then a tee about 4 inches off of it. One end of that tee goes somewhere else (sorry it is really dark where I live) and the other end has a few inches of vacuum hose. The way the previous owner had it set up was to run the nylon tubing directly into that hose.
I don't like the way it sat even though it was zip tied. It pulled right out.
Was this still the right place to tap the hose in the first place? I know there is an alternate location e.g. the fuel pressure solenoid etc.
Should there really be a tee there to start with and was running the nylon inside the hose the right way?
The other half of the mess was that my mach V gauge holder in the center AC vent that kept falling and eventually ripped the nylon line behind the gauge.
I went to my auto parts store and they didn't have 1/8" vacuum hose, so I bought a nylon kit for another aftermarket boost gauge.
It was a tight fit, but it looks to me like the nylon is free to back out.
This should be a really simple problem, but I am super busy working and hardly have any time to resolve it.
Any thoughts on what to do and/or where I can get solid tubing/fittings that won't fall apart so that I can stop hassling with this??
Thanks

ANY auto parts store SHOULD have some size vacuum hose - if not, then, well....wow.
