boost gauge problems

ever since i install my boost gauge i've had idle weird and eventually die. now this comes and goes. i know that its the boost gauge cause when i disconnect and reconnected the stock hose.. it was fine

i'm guessing its the way the plastic tube connects to the back of the gauge doesn't seem very air tight.

any suggestions.

did the gauge come with the ties for all of the connections? sounds like a leak, unless you unplugged something else?

its an autometer sport comp.
all it came w/ was a plastic tube and these metal adatpers to make it fit into the back of the gague and anotehr fiting for the toher end.

now that i think about i prolly should used some sealent when i assembled it, would that have helped. the instructions didn't say to use any.

i dont think that is necessary. as far as i know as long as you use all of the items that the gauge comes with it should work properly. have you checked all of the connections?

When my pillar was only half installed ( i hadnt completely tightned the farell) you could hear air flowing inside of it whenever i was heavily spooling. This caused some minor problems until i completely tightened it. Does ur gauge make any noises when u spool up?

Make sure all the connections are tight and that there are no cracks in any of the hoses. If I were you I would ditch the stiff nylon vacuum line that comes with the gauge and put a real rubber line on it. Also wrap the fittings with threads in teflon tape to prevent any leaks betweent the threads.

no i didn't hear any leaks.

i was thinking of using a rubber hose instead of that plastic one.. but i read somewhere on here that it might get pinched or something??

If the rubber one pinches, it will at most cut off flow to the boost gauge. If the nylon hose pinches it could crack and you would lose the pressure going through the whole line. You don't want to be losing fuel pressure/pressure to the BOV.
