I own a 1996 talon tsi with bolt ons. Its got t-28,intake,3 inch exhaust no cat, maft, fmic, greddy bov, wideband, boost controler and gauge, walbro 255fp,fpr. I have an safc just not hooked up due to not sure what to set everything at yet. I have the boost controller set for 14-15lbs and in 2nd,3rd and 4th around 4.5k to 5k it hits fuel cut, I fixed many if not all boost leaks, check multiple times. Put new plugs in and fuel filter. What could cause it to be hitting fuel cut with the set up I have now? Also when I do a boost leak test, i can hear water popping and bubbling in the motor, what is the cause of that? Thanks for any help just trying to get this thing running good.

when i took off the oil cap I could hear it coming from the block in a way, didnt not hear any air, it does this with the pcv valve connected or it not. The car runs good and strong just the fuel cut.

If you boost leak test at the turbo inlet, you'll hear the air going past the turbo seals, and bubling out of the oil return in the oil pan. If it isn't blowing smoke out the tailpipe it's nothing to worry about.

As for the "fuel cut" problem, you probably are getting knock due to an improperly tuned engine. You didn't mention what size injectors you are running, or what kind of fuel pressure regulator is handling that wally.

its set at 15lbs of boost right now, i have an safc 2 but im not sure what to set the settings to if I hook it up..I am currently running stock 450 injectors, looking to get 550s soon, my only other big plans are big 16g, the fpr I am using is the aeromotive fpr. thanks

hook up your safc, throw in your 550s, post a thread about people with similar mods make sure you have at least a boost gauge and egt and air fuel gauge and you can start tuning your car off with other peoples settings and perfect them to your needs probably fix that fuel cut issue. also make sure you set your fpr approiately.

This may not be the problem.. but it's worth a look. Check your speed sensor. My car was doing the same thing a while back and it turned out the sensor was broken. If you reach down near the fuel filter on the left side of the engine bay you should be able to see/feel it back near the firewall. If it's completely cracked like mine was you may have to use some long needle nose or some hemastats to get it out. I wanna say the part was around 50 bucks from the stealership. Good Luck.

Bro, your getting Fuel cut because your Turbo is Outflowing what your ECU can handle..
Its time to step up and install that SAFC.
You have a Wide band, Take a few mins to read on proper AFR's and start tuning...
There are hundreds of guys here that will be more then willing to help you fine tune that SAFC..

Dont buy that 16G yet, Get familiar with tuning on that T-28.

Start reading

That search Will get you started.. Grab a beer kick them feet up and Read.
Get a good understanding on how it all works. Install the AFC.. Then come back with some specific questions. :thumb:

ROFL Just to confuse you some more.. I forgot to mention a Logger, used to monitor everything but most important is Knock!

Heres some links to get ya started
MMCD software to run on your Palm Pilot 3c, Im having troubles finding a prebuilt cable. Im shure someone here at Tuners has one forsale.
Heck probly this entire setup ready to plug in..

Its one thing to start pushing buttons on the AFC, Its another to know what buttons and why.. That setup above will tell you.

A t28 is not out of the range for the stock ecu to read. and for surely not at 15 psi. But on the other side there would be no reason for you to buy a 16g since those two turbos are very similar in flow.

alright so I got a safc 2 wired up and working, got a pocket logger, not sure how you read what the timing and all is at on the logger tho? not sure what to do with it or how to get the information out of the log..any help would be great, thanks
