Just torched my front shock bushing because the bolt was seized inside. I have some prothane (polyurethane) bushing coming from ebay.

I'm wondering if I need to use a hacksaw to cut out the outer circle? should I just leave it in? Is it even part of the oem bushing? check the picture out. Thanks!

Yes, you'll need to cut through the sleeve in order to get it out. I cut a straight line through one side, then use a hammer and flathead on the very edge of the sleeve. Just be careful not to damage the control arm itself. It's much easier with the arm off the car too.

It's also not recommended to use a poly bushing for the strut bushing since it will transfer more vibration and accelerate shock wear. You can get a new OEM lateral control arm for around $50.

Thanks, I already ordered a polyurethane bushing set, but I will keep this in mind for next time.

It appears that the outer metal circle is fused to the metal of the lateral arm. my last ditch effort is to trim the poly bushing in order to make it fit.
