Yea put it on the side. make a little bracket to stick out below the headlight so you dont need to drill holes in the bumper. put foam where it sits against the bumper so it doesnt rattle or rub and bend the plate to match the curve of the bumper

Here you go, I just drilled into my front bumper and used rubber o-rings to space it out from the bumper. My bumper paint is shot so it wasn't a big deal for me.

My avatar. I guess it doesn't look so bad as to the placement, at least it's not in the way of the intercooler.

Your avatar has a front plate :p I think under the driver's headlight definately looks best, keeps cops happy, and lets your i/c breathe like a champ :thumb:

im in cali and never ran a front plate, and have yet to be pulled over.
thats funny, ### your avatar says otherwise

Im in cali and ever since I got my fmic I haven't run a front plate, and haven't been pulled over. But if I ever do get pulled over, my guess is I'll get, "your exhaust is 5000000000 times too loud.... STATE REF FOR YOU!!!!" so Im not too worried about a stupid plate.

I wouldnt put it in the windshield, its like a reminder to the police that youre violating a law. Another reason to not put it in the winshield; think what it could do if it came lose in a crash....

Off to the side is alright, if youre set on running one. Ive ran without one in Washington for over 2 years, and now in Oregon, and the only time I had an issue is when it was in my windshield.

haha shit. #### i just got pwned.

ok, in rebuttal, that was one of the pics i took to sell the vehicle...........

I think we need to start writing to our senators and shit stating how much they will save getting rid of the front plate which is useless.

Just to follow up, sorry for the long wait. I just bought myself a new camera :)

I took my front plate off temporarily just to do some work on the front bumper. Got pulled over twice by the same OSP Officer (Oregon State Police) and told that if it wasn't put back on immediately, it would be a citation and 140.00 fine. I hate the way my 1G DSM looks with the front bumper, but it’s on there to avoid the citation. Oregon State Law says you must have a clearly visible front & rear plate. Silly I think, but its the law out this way!

Citation and a 140 dollar fine when they could be catching real criminals, drunk people driving, etc? Drunks get off free!

Damn Im actually glad I live in S.C. Cops could care less about front license plates or exhaust for that matter, we have diesels in my county that run open dumps and they are loud as hell. Speaking of front license plates I actually took mine off today, its been on there since ive had it and I got bored today so I took it off. Much better looking and since the car is black the holes arent that noticeable.:thumb:

Most of the people around here that don't have their license plates on their bumper either have them on their grill or have them visible through their windshield.

what really licks my balls is that almost every state has a regulation regarding how LOW a headlight can be to the road (for safety reasons or some BS), but they dont have a regulation about how HIGH the headlight can be off the road. . . IE: Hillbilly Jeddy-Jo-Jo Hickabilly Thomas Bill can have his truck 19' off the ground, and shine his headlights right up your anus. Thanks state troopers, your a real safety expert. :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
We have a big problem with that where I live. People raise their trucks up high enough to run your car over and the police don't seem to care about that. Here's the law on that: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.37.040 A headlamp that's 54 inches high is too high in my opinion.

I got pulled over for no front plate, because theres simply no place to put it(bracket long gone). NOW I know ive seen a few 1gs with it down in the fascia opening directly over the condenser/rad. Do you guys have hotter running cars? Lemme know, thanks

I have never had a problem with mine. I have it ziptied to the bumper right in frount of it and I never run even a little hot. In our group back in Kearney we have 3 of use that have it right in frount and no problem. If you want another place to put it you could alwas put two holes off to the side under the head light and mount it there. One of our cars did that and it works too.

I have mine useing the stock holes right in front with a 2-3 foot 1in witde thin peice of steel painted black that relocates it off the intercooler just bolt it to the factory holes and see how long you would like it and then cut it drill holes for the plate in the other end and be happy. it looks grate and works good!

Well I dont have a front plate even though we are suppose to here in CT, but no one hassels me over it. If I were to put it up front I would remove the driverside foglight and mount it there, not getting in front of the rad. or anything else. Or you could fab. up something to keep it at an angle, so it doesnt stop the air, but deflect it into a different section of the radiator.

Dustin

Unless it's flat against the radiator, a license plate doesn't cover enough area to significantly affect a radiator's performance. You'll get enough spill off the sides and general convection to make up for it.

Thats what I was thinking Defiant when I said to put it at an angle, I figure the little bit of air that is blocked from one section of the radiator, will be diverted to another section of it.

Dustin

does anyone have the 4g63 or any kind of front plate? do they make a relocation kit so its offset? my buddy has a rsx with a relocation kit and its offset i was wonderin if they make anything similar for our dsms or just drill holes and put the plate in?
