front driver half shaft install problem

1990 eagle talon awd 5speed. My driver side from half shaft popped out due to bad motor mounts. FYI. I just bought the car. Now its all apart and I can get it back on I noticed a circlip on the spline so when I try to pop the half shaft back on it gets stuck any help would be great... also it weird but the splines where the circlil is do not seem to lighn up is it my bad eye sight?

OK so by looking at the pics I posted you can see the splines don't match up so if the shaft that comes out of the tranny is all 1 piece then is it partially twisted and ready to break off?
