So I'm having an issue with my 95 TSI Talon. As far as I know everything on the car is original. Doing a timing belt as well as all of the routine maintenance but I came across a problem with the front cover gasket. I ordered it from extreme PSI and it is the OEM gasket. The hole cut out of the gasket all the way to the right doesn't even look like it belongs there. I called Extreme PSI and they are saying that it is the correct gasket. Has anyone ever had this issue when installing a melling or other aftermarket front cover? I'm wondering if it was replaced before.

Those front case gaskets don't leak unless they have been removed from the car. To remove that front case you would have to remove the engine

If you removed the engine you deleted the balance shafts.

So in summary unless your motor has had the balance shafts deleted it's unlikely you would ever need to replace the front case gasket

I appreciate the reply but that's not quite the answer I was looking for LOL. I'm doing all of the routine maintenance as well as a balance shaft delete that is why the front case came off and I didn't have to pull the engine to do it. I'm trying to put it back together now but the gasket doesn't quite look right to me.
