Okay so i did the balance shaft elimination..
and i put the pump cover back on the front case and bolted the front case down..

Now should i be able to spin the oil pump gear by hand? everything is torqued to spec; i CAN NOT spin it by hand..

is this right?

Got a pinch somewhere. Loosen the bolts and see if you can spin the shaft. Then, hand tighten the bolts and see if you still can spin the shaft. Then tighten the bolts down slightly with doing the "star" tightening sequence - tighten a bolt opposite of the other bolt while spinning the shaft. If you suddenly get a pinch, something aint correct and you gotta disassemble it all and see where the pinch is at.

good luck-DSM

well this sucks, i have it all together, so i got to take that stupid peice back off..

well i know i stripped the screw ... so i cant get the whole pump cover off..
you think i can just lift it up some not the whole way and itll be fixed?

You'll need to remove the entire frontcase. Make sure to use plenty of lube/grease and align the marks correctly

Torque down to 12ft lbs with blue loctite

and no the timing mark the on gear doesnt need to be in sinc with the rest.. (if the balance shafts are eliminated; if they werent then i would have to align the mark with the cams)

you are exactly right i forgot about that. no balanceshafts! there's a section in the haynes manual that explains how to check clearances in the oil pump. you'll need a set of feeler guages. if you rebuild it you can use oil or lithium grease but no heavy grease. if you cant find the rebuild literature pm me and i'll explain. but it will take awhile due to the fact i type real slow .
