Front Case Oil Holes

Is this normal for the oil holes not to line up exactly between the front case and the block where the oil filter housing bolts on? The bottom of the block and front case/oil pump lines up correctly, as do the sides as far as I can tell, and of course there's the dowels there to keep it "lined up". This just seemed weird to me, and I couldn't find any good pictures at this angle.

It's normal. As a tech I see this all the time. Especially on intake and exhaust manifolds and things like water pumps. You would't believe how poorly things match up and from all manufacturers, but it still works.
