I have a 1/4 inch magnus spacer. It feels like platic, but I'm not sure what it's made from. I want to use this manifold spacer. I love this FRH manifold, I would prefer not to use the spacer provided with the manifold. Is there anyone that used this manifold with out the damn wooden spacer?

The FRH spacer is actually a Phenolic material spacer not wood. Its a heat barrier material made for the same purpose as the magnus one.

Do not use that manifold without the spacer. It serves to major purposes. One is like what dsmmack said it's a heat barrier with a cooling effect between it and the head and the other is that it makes the runners longer.

You will be fine without the spacer. Your manifold will run a little warmer, but it isn't a huge deal.
